He looks like a character from Dynasty Warriors. Well his face anyway, the rest fo his body is a bit behind LOL
VERY UGLY SITE IT WOULD BE
Dream on. Yao facial ain't going to look like that. It's going to look hideously gay like the sterotypical FuMan Chu.
just another US report: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/oly_2004_basket_chn_yao Yao's vow - no shaving for six months if China misses final eight ATHENS (AFP) - National Basketball Association star Yao Ming vowed not to pick up a razor for six months if China does not reach the quarter-finals of the Athens Olympic tournament. "I hope we will have the chance to visit all the ancient monuments of Athens and experience the Olympic tradition of this unique country," Yao said. "But first of all we have to qualify for the next round, for the quarter-finals. "If we don't, I won't shave for six months as punishment." Yao might resemble the fur-covered Yeti of the Himalayas or the fabled North American Sasquatch if China fails and the 2.26m center goes all hairy in the two-month run-up to his next NBA season for the Houston Rockets. But if Yao leads the Chinese into the final eight, China would do no worse than match its best-ever Olympic finish - eighth. The goal Yao has set is not an easy one. China is in a preliminary group with world champion Serbia and Montenegro, NBA-bolstered Spain and Argentina, New Zealand and Italy, which beat the United States earlier this month. The top four in the group will advance to the quarter-finals. The Chinese, guided by NBA Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Del Harris, open Sunday against Spain. Yao will have a matchup against Spanish star center Pau Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies. "I think we have the potential to achieve something that no Chinese team has ever done before," Harris said. If they fail, Harris can only hope the extra hair makes Yao slower in the NBA season, where his Mavericks are division rivals of the Rockets.
The olympics are going top be very interesting... Yao sounds so damn pumped... I saw an interview with him, didn't understand a damn word he said, but still he sounded like he was ready to dominate... I'm predicting HUGE numbers from Yao... He's going to try so damn hard not to lose this bet, he's going to destroy his opponents, I'm sure.... If Yi and the PG aer able to help him out, I like their chances taking out Italy and New Zealand for 8th in their group. I can't wait...
After two seasons in the NBA, Yao is now mature enough to prove he's a true winner, and the Olympics is the perfect situation for him to do it. He's the heart and soul of that Chinese team, and how they do depends on him. If he folds, that doesn't bolt well for our (the Rockets) future. Yao's team won the championship in the Chinese league under his leadership, and let's see how he does on the Olympic scene. I am rooting for the CNT as hard as I can, and I DO NOT want him to come into the training camp in a Johnny Damon form.
The Yao Ming not shaving story is true, it has just been confirmed on ESPN's "Hot List". This should be very interesting...
It's no secret Yao is competitive and has lots of pride. I remembered how emotional and dissapointed he was during the 2002 World Championship.
with any kind of help at all from his teammates it seems like china has an extremely good chance at being top 8. yao is just too dominant. i don't really think they'll medal or anything but i doubt he'll have to try and grow a beard.
