I think it will be Howard. He is a vet that could teach some toughness to these young guys. Really looking forward to seeing him play.
I would have to agree with you on that one Gucci888. Juwan seems like he could fit in on about any team and do a good job and help to be a leader.
Juwan is very soft fo this team i would pick cato over him anyday cause we already have out 2 scorers.I think out team is much better with sura rather then the guards we had before the pick up ,so I vote sura.
I just think our bench is what's going to distinguish this team next year and thats gonna be mainly Sura, Taylor and Boki carrying the scoring.
Juwan Howard is by far the most talented new non-T-Mac player. Unless he comes up with a season-ending injury, there's little chance any other player on that poll can match him in terms of impact.
My vote is for Howard. He's actually a good player. It's not his fault he's been overpaid most of his career. I can just imagine it: GM: "Juwon, we think you're a great player. How about a max contract." Howard: "Oh, no thanks coach. I think I have talent, but I just don't serve that much money." Errr... no.
Reece Gaines. He's the only person I can even see on this team 3-4 years down the line growing with TMac, Yao, and Boki.
I thought Sura would have gotten more love. He could be the "Jimmy Jackson" pickup of this year. He really makes our bench a whole lot better, if he doesn't start.
I'm looking forward to a starting power forward that can hit an open jumper, alright. Hey man, I LOVED Kelvin Cato. No one can say I didn't. I'm just sayin'... a starting power forward. That can catch a pass out of a double-team and make a basket.
Where is the option for "None"? I don't believe any of these players will make any big impact. Any impact they make will be minor. Howard has the best chance, but he is just not a good complement to Yao, IMO. I really think Cato was a better fit. For what we gained in offense, we lose in defense. I'm not saying Howard doesn't play defense, but his defense doesn't compliment Yao's. We need a bruiser or a quick guy to help out Yao. Howard is neither of that. Outside of TMac, none of these players make me go "nice!". I think the teaching part is so over-rated. Just because you are a good player, it doesn't mean you are a good teacher or have the desire to teach. Even if you want to teach, the other player has to want to learn too. Neither Harrington nor Cato learned anything from Hakeem. Yao didn't learn anything from Oakley. Frances didn't learn anything from Jackson. How's that any different than players like Frances, Maloney, or any other player that haven't perform up to their salary? It didn't stop us from ripping them.
Well in Howard's case he gets the stigma of holding the title of "Most Overpaid Person in the League". That means he gets abuse from the national media. Nobody outside of Houston really thought much of Maloney getting paid for nothing. But Howard heard it from all sides for about 4 or 5 years about how he was horrifically overpaid.
