HBO has premiered the teaser trailer for the second season of Adam McKay’s sports comedy-drama “Winning Time” which is scheduled to return on August 6th on HBO and will stream on Max.

The new season will see continued rise of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers and their increasing influence in the NBA, along with Magic Johnson’s soaring career and rivalry with Larry Bird.

Looking forward to seeing how the Lakers depicted hate the living snot out of it. Haven't even watched the documentary Jeannie Buss endorsed...

Looking forward to it. Season 1 was a little slow so hopefully this season will pick it up a bit.

I wonder how (or if) the will portray Ralph Sampson's famous shot.

I hope they do away with the weird cuts to shots from cameras with different filters on them, or whatever you call it. Artistic license gone too far.

Yeah, that kind of thing is super annoying. But everyone seems to do it these days, so us old guys just have to deal with it.

Rockets and Moses make an appearance in episode 2. The Calvin Murphy character jumping in the background had me laughing.

Big drop in viewers from season 1. Zaslav can smell the luxury tax savings.

    Watched episode 2 last night.

I was very impressed with the attention to detail with the game(s) against the Rockets. All the names and numbers were 100% accurate. The actors playing the Rockets looked like the real players. Even Allen Leavell had the beard and receding hairline. We saw Moses and a little bit of Calvin. Mike (Chicken Man) Dunleavy, Robert Reid, and pretty sure I may have caught a glimpse of The Whopper (Billy Paultz). Hell, they even had ol' Dull Harris and his grey hair on the sideline.

    Well done, HBO.

Also, I had no idea that the actor playing Norm Nixon is actually Norm Nixon's son. Very nice touch!

Whoever cast this show absolutely NAILED it.

I don't think they're promoting at all. But also my friends that like McKay's stuff but don't love hoops do not seem to be into this show. I also feel like most of the people that loved this era of basketball have moved on from the sport or don't know the shows exists.

I think this is 100% true. It's like the show is stuck in the middle. The style of the show is geared towards a younger audience while the subject matter is geared towards an older audience.

This show is great and makes me want to live in smog shrouded early 80s LA.

Arbitrary cuts to grainy sepia-filtered shots are the new planking.
