But...but...Bruno Fernando...lob threat...no defense... Boy, every day our Sengun haters look more and more idiotic.
"He needs to develop a jumper" - He successfully did the one-legged Dirk fadeaway a couple of times. If he keeps at it, I'm sure he can consistently add that to his repertoire. "He cannot play defense" - His defense looked very solid, the effort was there, he was really disruptive - 5 steals and 2 or 3 blocks, that's impressive "He is too short" - That didn't seem to be a problem whatsoever "He is not a lob threat" - Well, he had an alley-oop dunk. He looks more athletic and leaner than last season - this doesn't happen without work. And of course, he still has an array of great post moves, and is an electric passer. (He also drained a three, ok, he also missed a few, but I see no reason why he cannot be at least a good enough 3-point shooter.) I guess all the haters have left at the moment is that he is not 7'5 like Wemby. But I will take Alpi over Wemby any day. He is much more skilled.
And he is still just 21, plenty of room to grow, with the work ethic and talent to get better just like Jokic.
I'm pretty excited for Sengun but are we really going to use group stage of a qualifier tournament for the qualifier tournament of the Olympics as evidence of that?
I doubt Bruno Fernando would be able to achieve the same. Unless he does, yeah, I'm holding those who were stupid enough to want Bruno over Sengun accountable.
I mean, he had 33 pts, 15 rebounds, 6 asts, 4 blks vs. Lebron and the Lakers. Lebron tried guarding him himself in the end, because nobody could stop him. This is what happened then: He also had 20 pts, 10 rebs, 7 asts, 3 steals vs. Jokic, in a Rockets win. https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/li...tduels-nikola-jokic-as-rockets-blast-nuggets/ It's not like he can only do it against summer league level talent or G League guys...
Rockets are lucky to have him. Still, he will need to be respectable from 3 point range to reach his full potential.
Low volume (because of Silas), but I would tell my team to guard a guy who hits about 44 % of his threes when open.
I like Al-P as much as the next guy but that jumper at 7:55 in the video with 5:25 left in the forth may be the ugliest thing I've seen since the Westbrook era.
Although i agree with your point OQT is at least few tiers above NBA Summer League in terms of competition and quality.
This height discourse is so funny because we were on rocketswatch watching the game and for a split second Sengun and some Ukr dude came next to each other and that spaz roosh googled that dude and found out he was 6'8 or 6'9 so came to the definite conclusion that sengun is 6'9 but then people posted some photos of sengun standing next to confirmed 7'0'' and 6'11 dudes and in the photo he wasn't shorter than the 6'11 guy but it didn't matter. I dunno i guess Ukrainian guy's height is listed correctly on internet but turkish players' heights were not why? Because? Because that guy is a f.king m-ron. Sengun looks good but i want to see him on NBA doing those fadeaways first to say yeah he's the future. Sure it's the same sport he has the talent but competition isn't the same. Those games feel like they are friendlies. When you are not facing any challenges your confidence grows and grows during the game but some block from Giannis might f.k up your mood and you might not score 10 minutes straight. Sth like that and the game is slower there you have more time to think about your move and there's not 3 seconds rule. But i liked his defensive effort and he looks much quicker and i don't really buy that he is over 260Ibs that's too much of a weight to be this mobile imo. He looks about 250 to me. He looks thicker tho finally doesn't look like a kid. His release looks quicker. He overally looked much quicker than last year but to say that he now has bag i'm not there yet but things look promising so far.
Super spaz. Anyone that disagrees with him is a “f’ing idiot” too. Was a really rough listen yesterday. You could easily say that Sengun is not 6-11, but you could just as easily say that he is not 6-9… He himself says that he came in at 6-9 barefoot. Grew an inch in year 1, and possibly an inch in year 2. Really odd for him to lie about that. Even more odd for that guy to double down on Alperen lying. My guess is that he is 6-10.5, not that it matters at all. You’d think fans that watched Chuck Hayes and PJ Tucker would have a more advanced understanding of interior defense.
