There is a great chance that happens. It’s baseball. But I’m assuming if the reverse happens and they struggle to score and lose even with the mighty Yanier catching lineup, it’ll still be Dusty’s or hell even Maldy’s fault because they just happen to be right there.
Whatever. Fans “lose it” when the manager intentionally doesn’t play the best lineup of available/rested players. After that, everyone recognises luck and randomness plays a huge role - the entire point of baseball is that it is a long season of low probability-spread events that eventually add up if you consistently make the right choices. If you consistently make the wrong choices over 100 games, you still have some great nights, but you lose 4-5 extra games and finish 2nd in the division. It doesn’t make you wiser or cooler to just say “it’s baseball” and mock fans for wanting the manager to do his job properly. It makes you a sap who doesn’t understand how probability works.
Astros' Michael Brantley begins rehab assignment as veteran could rejoin defending champs for playoff push
We need to win the division to ensure we only have two rounds to get to the World Series. Playing 3 rounds to win the AL dramatically lowers the odds of making the World Series. Every game should be treated as must-win -- as the division championship goal now exceeds the load management or playing-time-for-depth goals. We need to pivot to using the best lineup every day from this point forward.
I mean, when you win at a 105 win pace with 1 guys catching and an 85 win pace when the other guy catches, and the 105 win pace guy is playing at an MVP level behind the plate and the 85 win guy is playing at the level of the worst player ever to have that many AB's then maybe the guy on the 85 win pace (and the manager that puts him there 4 out of 5 days) actually is deservedly catching a bunch of **** and a large share of the blame for the failures of the team when he catches.
I agree but that will never be Dusty’s way. This will be proven when he starts running Brantley out there every game and batting him 2nd. Dusty will never put the best lineup out there, 5 days a week, in the regular season.
I'm already dreading Brantley hitting 2nd, that pushing Tucker all the way down to 6th and Yainer never playing in another game where he isn't the DH. Thanks for bringing that nightmare fuel into play.
You called Altuve a cheater. You can say it was a poor attempt at sarcasm if you want. Not sure an Astro fan would go there.
Of course you would exaggerate with 20 runs. If the offense struggles, every fan will be disappointed. But at least we'll know our best players played.
Also we are 13-10 when Framber starts So when Maldanado catches anyone else we are 33-31, an 83 win pace
