I am happy he had a hot streak in the postseason last year. He also was horrid in the 2020 postseason. I didn't want Yuli to rot in Hell after the 2020 postseason. I'm not going to think his hot streak in the 2022 postseason is representative of his current abilities.
Yeah. I’d rather have Yuli at 1.2 million than Abreu tied up for three years at 19.5 (particularly if the money was used elsewhere). I’m also fine the team didn’t re-sign Yuli. He was key in the playoffs, but he didn’t have a great year last year, and he wouldn’t be a huge difference maker this year.
I was so-so with J.Abreu when he was hitting 0 HRs to start the season and playing every day, but his defense, strikeouts and walk is now problematic. Abreu cost us a few games with his defense and currently his strikeout totals is almost equal from last season with White Sox. If you ain't walking, you must be just free-swinging it. If Astros GM had the gonads, he should of been traded out.
This played out well.... ...because he sucks...!? of course he'll sign a multi (Astros-defined) 3 yr deal when he knows he's the next Brian Cushing or JDC to a beisbol team. Ayyyy Dusty: rest this "starter" for about 2 weeks and see what kind of production you get out of him... bc everyday this dude is made for a prime candidate of getting a 1-way ticket tf outta Houston in November. ...just curious... (and for all you #heyjunewascool idiots... it is what it is... keep your expectations minimal) #whydothe2worsthittersintheALhavetobeinthelineupeverygametheAstrosplay Abreu/a and Mauled-own-datdo need to study their own misgivings... if MM is such a baller when it comes to game prep, why in the actual fck can he not game prep his own ABs-- all you MMcvcks need to explain that argument. JA needs to be DH or PH from the bench... end of story. If MM is such a wizard, relegate him to the f'n bullpen to get our middle relievers & closers locked in.
Jose Abreu this month (game-by-game) TWO hits in 24 ABs (0 XBH) -- 1 BB / 10 Ks / 0 RBIs The sh1tfest season has turned more toilet.
I'm willing to bet that his at-bat is the fastest of all the Astros. The duration at the plate. All I've been seeing is 0-2, 1-2, most likely outcome x-3, or an Out. I hope Singleton cancels Abreu.
The dude has turned into a black hole yet again. Batting him any higher than 7th at this point is an insult to anyone batting behind him not named Maldy, and even Maldy has shown more power than Abreu. Dusty is going to have some decisions to make bc we can't keep trotting this guy out there 90% of the time expecting the Abreu of old to magically reappear. Let's pray Singleton taps into a fraction of that AAA potential and forces his way into the lineup at Abreu's expense.
Dusty won’t move him down Hell even Trea Turner was moved to 8th because he wasn’t producing Diaz should be playing a lot of 1B but he won’t
I've said from April/May, no earlier than 7... keep the Abreu~Maldonado~Meyers/Julks/Dubon/Kessinger/Madris project in 7-8-9. HE CANT PRODUCE WHERE HES AT.... MAYBE, JUST MAYBE HE MIGHT GET SOME IF HES SLOTTED LATER!!!!!!! HOW CAN YOU DUMBASSES IN THE ORG NOT SEE THAT!!??!??
I'm still hoping this is just another ugly slump he fell into, he hasn't been terrible for an extended stretch, just a very pronounced one. 10 days ago he was cruising along just fine. He had maintained and OPS around .800 for 2 months, driving in runs, his season number has reached a career high, and the peripherals looked good. Then the bottom fell out and he seemed to revert to early season Abreu overnight.
If you would have told me after Abreu signed we would be crying to get jon Singleton in the lineup I would have thought you were Cray Cray
He needs to admit that he needs to swing a lighter bat If he is swinging a 42 oz.....go to 40 oz or 38 oz. He's been a little slow in the hand speed and finds covering both sides of the plate difficult. Doing a terrible job guessing and protecting either inside or outside pitch. Batting coach should have Abreu thinking singles. The chance of hitting 30 home runs this season has passed. Up the middle and work from there singles.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I could say quite lowering the head of the bat so much, open the stance, quite swinging for the fences so much. But I would just change one thing 1) lighter bat Easy to see his hands are slow as molasses. Last year he played 157 games and had 15 hr's......he has 10 this year at age 36. At some point players have to come to terms with growing older. Father time is undefeated. Swing a heavy bat and guess inside pitch.....he is trying to adjust to outside stuff but just ends up whiffing, foul tipping, or weak pop up/grounder. Swing a heavy bat and guessing outside pitch....he is trying to to adjust inside stuff but mostly whiffs, foul tips, or weak pop ups/ grounder. If he lessens the weight of the bat he can guess inside pitch.... and have enough bat control to adjust. If he lessens the weight of the bat he can guess outside pitch.....have enough bat speed and bat control to pull his hands through and connect better on an inside pitch. Same mechanics just quicker bat speed. I don't care if you like or dislike the advice.....it's meant for Abreu and team. You can go F off on a long pier.
