I guess he guaranteed Abreu a full day off, which is ****ing ridiculous.

I would - I would do it again tomorrow too. Lee is a future back up catcher.

"Then, as the Reds drifted, then nose-dived late in the year, Baker insisted there was no need for urgency."

Atrocious offense this series. Can't put it all on Dusty, as easy as it is sometimes. Guys are just not hitting or getting on base, period. JV deserved better than this today. Hopefully they can salvage the series tomorrow, but the offense isn't exactly giving me much hope.

It’s not giving up Lee. It’s getting Graveman.

I'd say put together a serious lineup for tomorrow but it's more important we show that Uriquidy is healthy.

I have analyzed everything I’ve done today to see what I’ve done to curse us. I can’t figure it out. I will try harder tomorrow.

Dusty's bias for and against certain players is definitely a problem. That and the zero consistency in the line ups if you're one of his favorites. Somehow Pena despite all his defensive errors, 60% caught stealing rate, and wild swings at the plate remains a Dusty favorite.

THREE L's behind Arlington in the standings

Astros will scratch and claw for the playoffs and enter fatigued if they make it

    Maldy will have 125 GP

Dusty chose a "defensive" lineup that gave him one damn hit until he pulled Kessinger. Could have run out a very similar lineup to yesterday with Diaz playing 1st and Pena/Meyers batting 7 and 8 with Maldy 9th. Then you could have pinch hit for Maldy late in the game and move Diaz to catcher.

Dusty needs to be thanking God for the cheating scandal. He would still be on his couch and never would have gotten a ring.

Graveman is better than half the relievers in the pen. He is capable of high leverage outcomes. There were not a lot of better options available at the deadline.

I’ll take my chances with Graveman.

The lineup wasn’t the greatest but 2 hits with one being a blooper is disgusting. This is a very flawed team.

Peña stunk it out in the 2 hole but even with acknowledging that, the Astros 2-6 hitters were 0-15 w/ 9 K.

Diaz gets the teams overall 2nd hit of the game in his first at-bat in the game while replacing Kessinger at 1st base...I really wish a reporter had the balls to ask Dusty about that. But like Evan Drellich said, Houston sports media is SOFT.

I’m starting to think that all this #$%@ riding Dusty gets around the league is just a big inside joke and everyone is laughing at us. They say he invented the high five, for Christ’s sake…lol. GTFO with that BS! This stuff has to be comedy gold for the other 29 managers.

Dusty was the real punishment for the cheating scandal.

Think they're into "innings management" mode with him. He's already exceeded last year's innings total (110.2IP) this year (111IP between AAA and ML).

Plus Quidy needed somewhere to slot in.

Yep. I love Diaz. I think he needs to catch “every” game. But for a catcher that means 5 a week probably, tops. So, day game after a night game with a guy pitching that Maldy might have a chance to make contact against (he didn’t) isn’t a bad time to catch maldonado the one time a week he deserves. But play Diaz at 1B and do all the stuff you said. Make sure that Chas and Yordan get more AB’s than Peña. Pinch hit for maldy when the thing run is on base with 1 out down one in the 8th. we did none of these things, and lost. Maybe we still would have lost anyway. Probably likely so if I’m being honest. But that doesn’t excuse doing mathematically wrong things that make losing more likely. It’s just tough.
Dusty hears it. That interview this morning and his reasoning behind what he did was so bad, defensive and prickly. I wonder if that’s push back against the fanbase or if he has the FO and the nerd cave in his ear?
