Found this Yang Yi article in some other place. Someone please translate. Apparently(if you trust Yang Yi), Yao won't shave for six months if his CNT doesn't advance to the quarter-finals of the Olympics. I am not sure this will happen, but if it does...
you never know.. having a beard like that can cause alot of discomfort to his opponents if he knows how to use it! J
This is a good read, someone please translate, Yao thinks that Harris did an exceptional job during the few months, let us wait and see China vs. Spain on Sunday.
It's not Photoshop....Paint is all I have here at work....I can't tell if the hair is Coolio or Latrell...but here is my effort!
Lazy... your Chinese / English is obviously good enough to do it yourself. I'll translate the bits that I agree with. I was going to write about this after I watched the China v. Italy link that wireonfire provided. I hadn't seen the CNT in action that much, but their you know their problems are pretty obvious. Okay back to the article. Yao says that Harris really made significant changes to the Chinese team, beyond Yao's expectations because he really didn't expect Harris to be able to get rid of all the bad habits of the CNT that have accumulated over the years that quickly. Two improvements that yao have singled out are: transition defense, and pulling back from a fast break into a half court set when the opponents are quick getting back. Yao says Liu Wei and Li Nan are consistent (that's what I felt too... Li Nan is crafty and Liu Wei is the only that can penetrate). However, Yi, Mo Ke (Wang Zhi Zhi clone), Chen Ke, and Zhu Fangyu are on and off, however, Yao says he only needs one or two people to step up and contribute. Anyway he says that getting into the elite 8 will be a struggle, yet if they play "crazy" even medaling is not out of the question. ^^ I like that confidence.
Looks like Yao will have to save the hair. China got beat by Latovia in the last game of a long series of warm-up games. However, I dont think Yao's not going to look any thing like that picture. Asians dont grow much facial hair to begin with.
