Hunter Brown has had a really solid rookie season. It's not his fault so much s**t has gone wrong and people have high expectations. Verlander is everybody's favorite surface level comp for him, he didn't become Cy Verlander until his 4th full season when he was 26. Certainly not saying he will reach that level, just that pitchers much more often then not have a couple of run up years before hitting their stride.
Agreed. Everybody here should remember what their initial reaction to watching Framber was. Honestly, I felt similar… till I saw the quote from Mike Trout saying that at the time, Framber had some of the best stuff he’d ever seen.
Lol to be fair though... the first meme was a generic Trump fist pump from freaking WWE. Nothing political except it being Trump. The second meme posted is clearly made around the pending Trump trial so entirely political
Agree. It goes without saying in order to be a good pitcher you have to have good stuff. The barrier that's hard to break through for the vast majority of mlb pitchers is the mental aspect. Controlling your emotions. What a difference between '21 and '22 for Framber. Working with a sports psychiatrist did wonders for him.
Actually 2020 was his true breakout year… happened to be during the Covid season with no fans. Obviously he’s sustained it, but I wonder if that helped push him along a tad?
Not talking about him "breaking" out. Talking about him being an elite pitcher. He Wet the bed numerous times in the '21 playoffs. Framber himself talked about not controlling his emotions and thus why he sought out the help of the sports psychologist.
My son and i had the opportunity to watch the game behind the Astros dugout last night. We were able to meet both Dana Brown and Jim Crane as they were sitting near us. Both of them were telling us how excited they are to see JV go today. Jim left early but Dana stayed until the 8th inning. Bregman and Abreu both threw my kid a game ball. Yankees fans are terrible is all i can say. The stuff they were screaming at Altuve last night was terrible. Needless to say we cheered our asses off.
No he started seeing the shrink before the pandemic season, it was a big part of his initial breakout.
Interesting. I had thought he started doing this after the '21 playoffs. More pitchers should do this. Thanks for the clarification.
Looks more like he's made a few mistakes at bad times. I think Javier has his work cut out for him to prevent Brown from being the No. 3 in the postseason.
If France continues the way he has... he'll be the #3 anyhow Javier should be relegated to spot starts when needed
Verlander is back, that means Dubon is back to being a better CF than Meyers and Chaz. His last start out there was prepping him for Verlanders return. Dusty has to be the most charming man in history to stay in the league as long as he has doing stupid s**t like today. Also great to see Diaz on the bench again while Kessinger starts.
