Wow, I'm amazed at how convinced they are that the republic is going to die if they don't expel these guys. I'm a bit shocked by the degree of control they must maintain in their caucus, not tolerating any dissent. The idea that they think they represent the people of TN when they know they only have a supermajority due to gerrymandering... SMH. All of these are signs of an amazing level of self-righteousness and delusion.
Do you consider this a victory or justification for what the legislature did previously regrading the Memphis Three?
REVEALED: GOP leader, who voted to expel TN Three, resigns; found guilty of sexually harassing interns Rep. Scotty Campbell resigned about six hours after NewsChannel 5 confronted him about sexual harassment allegations Posted: 11:57 AM, Apr 20, 2023 Updated: 6:52 PM, Apr 20, 2023 By: Phil Williams NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A member of GOP leadership in the Tennessee House of Representatives was recently found guilty of sexually harassing at least one legislative intern, likely two, by an ethics subcommittee acting in secret, NewsChannel 5 Investigates has learned. About six hours after being confronted by NewsChannel 5 Investigates, Rep. Scotty Campbell gave up his seat in the Tennessee General Assembly. Until now, Campbell, who served as vice chair of the House Republican Caucus and who recently voted to expel three Democrats who engaged in a gun violence protest on the House floor, had suffered no previous consequences as a result of his actions. Watch full story on NewsChannel 5 at 6 Despite accusations of sometimes extremely vulgar comments and other inappropriate advances, Republicans did not remove the 39-year-old East Tennessee lawmaker from his leadership position nor from his committee assignments. But taxpayers are paying for his actions. NewsChannel 5 has learned that potentially thousands of dollars have been spent to protect one victim, relocating her from the downtown apartment building where she and Campbell both had apartments, shipping her furniture back home in another part of the state and placing her in a downtown hotel for the remainder of her internship. Legislative officials refused to say how much they've paid out, saying that information is confidential. Confronted with the allegations Thursday as he headed to Capitol Hill, Campbell referenced a second intern who was also involved in the investigation. NewsChannel 5 was previously unaware of that individual's complaint. "I had consensual, adult conversations with two adults off property," he insisted. "I think conversations are consensual once that is verbally agreed to. If I choose to talk to any intern in the future, it will be recorded." But a four-member ethics subcommittee, composed of two Republicans and two Democrats, came to a different conclusion, according to a memorandum dated March 29 that was sent to House Speaker Cameron Sexton. "Based on the completed staff investigation, the Ethics Subcommittee finds that Representative Campbell violated the Policy" against workplace discrimination and harassment, the memo says.
on 29 March 2023, the Tenn Ethics Subcommittee's written conclusion to the Tenn Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton Despite having received the written conclusion by the Ethics Subcommittee, Speaker of the House Sexton did nothing to punish the sexual offender. on 5 April 2023, the Speaker led the vote to expell two Black lawmakers---accusing them of violation House procedures / policies---after they had spoken out against gun violence
Yes. It was the actions of Republicans that did make these people superstars. Their own anti-democractic and blatantly racist moves did cause people to dislike Republicans. Surprise Surprise

Justin Pearson and Justin Jones, who became Democratic heroes as members of the “Tennessee Three,” reclaimed their legislative seats Thursday after they were expelled for involvement in a gun controlprotest on the House floor. The young Black lawmakers were reinstated by local officials after being booted from the GOP-dominated Statehouse, but only on an interim basis. They advanced Thursday through a special election to fully reclaim their positions. Both faced opponents in districts that heavily favor Democrats and easily defeated them according to unofficial results from the Tennessee’s Secretary of State’s office. Jones, who lives in Nashville, was up against Republican candidate Laura Nelson. Meanwhile, Pearson, from Memphis, faced independent candidate Jeff Johnston.
I love this ! This is so relatable! My youngest daughter is close to her age who found her boyfriend and has assimilated into her routine - that girl is adorable as well and very relatable - now I moved from Texas so I don't think this wasn't a situation of leaving H.ell (aka California) - parts of Murfreesboro for instance remind me so much of suburb Houston life but cool video story
I love it. Peaceful protest and taking a stand is part of what can bring about change. The good folks of Tennessee don't give up easily, it seems.
What do you mean that conservatives' constant crowing about mental health was a red herring that they had no interest in actually addressing? Are you saying they're disingenuous and unserious people??
