Not true. Teams were inclined to let him get his because it was at the expense of the team. When Sengun lead the team in scoring we usually got blown out. Sengun is a decent player but his fans are highly delusional at times. I just provide the balance
I'm so glad whoever posting that nonsense you just quoted blocked me so i don't have to read his bullsh*t posts anymore. Anyway, Turkey game tomorrow. Alperen is probably going to play.
Best defender on in comparison to the defender that would be possible to put on Sengun? Whatttt? So you are saying if the 76ers play the Celtics their best defender would have been Marcus Smart and he defends Embid? Next game they play the Jazz and Gobert would defend him all game? Then they play the Nets and Bridges defends him? Then those 3 teams play the Rockets and they would all defend Green? Then to take it further if Green were injured and out and Sengun would then indeed be the "best player on the team" those 3 players on those 3 teams would all then defend Sengun the whole game? wtf kind of reason is that to make someone better than another player? People need to do better. Society and humans can just be embarrassing sometimes. This is coming from someone that if they had to choose to trade either Green or Sengun i would trade Sengun every single time. I really like Sengun though and enjoy watching him and in fact do not want to trade him. But your reasoning suxxx
Nah you either didn't watch games or don't listen to opposing coaching and players about the rockets. Sengun was the best player on the rockets last year and had the strongest ability to alter games other coaches had to plan for.
Is he though? 40pt+ games in 22-23 Jalen Green: 4 Alperen Sengun: 0 30-39pt games in 22-23 Jalen Green: 12 Alperen Sengun: 1 20-29pt games in 22-23 Jalen Green: 29 Alperen Sengun: 14 >20pts games in 22-23 Jalen Green: 31 Alperen Sengun: 59 0 pt games in 22-23 Jalen Green: 0 Alperen Sengun: 1 Not sure you know what the word delusional means tbh...
Yea, points are the only stat that means anything in basketball. Rebounds, assist, blocks, steals, etc.... are meaningless stats. Not to mention Silas "system" was all about the guards. Sengun was still the best player on the team by advanced metrics. I know exactly what delusional means however it appears he is not the only delusional person here.
Do you know what FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT is? Alperen's career high in fga is 20, which is only 2 more than what Green averaged for an entire season. Alperen averaged 14.8 pts with 10.7 fga per game and Jalen averaged 22.1 pts with 18 fga per game. If we swap fga per game numbers, you get very sad stats of Alperen averaging 25 pts with 18 fga per game and Jalen averaging 13 points with 10.7 fga per game. I didn't even include usage ratings which would make the difference even bigger since Jalen takes way more free throw than Alperen because his usage is way higher.
And yet, you genuinely think that people game-planned on defence more for a player who had more 15 pts or less games than not, rather than the player who scores over 20 pts in the majority of his games?..seems legit. Let's not forget what I was actually responding too. Yes we know, Alpi's the greatest ever, despite struggling to make 20 pts for the majority of his NBA career
The player scores over 20 pts in the majority of his games does that with horrible efficiency. The player scores 15 or less in the majority of his games does that with great efficiency. I thought u'd understand that after reading my post but clearly i overestimated your basic math skills and basic basketball knowledge.
You were responding to me. When have I ever declared Sengun to be the GOAT? Look at my join date. I have been a Rockets fan since Moses Malone patrolled the paint. Sengun is my current favorite player. I think he has a bright future. I also say we have no idea what his ceiling is and he has skills similar to the reigning finals MVP and who is also a multiple time league MVP. Do I think he can reach that level? I have no idea. He may be at his ceiling now which I HIGHLY doubt but even so he led the team in most advanced metrics despite not being featured or given a ton of minutes like Jalen Green.
And what exactly does that have to do with the reality of how another team plans against us last season? Efficiency is irrelevant, you don't game plan for the guy averaging 10pts over the guy averaging 20pts. Kind of ironic that superior attitude you're taking when you're missing the most simplest of facts. Get a grip on the reality of the situation and watch some games instead of masturbating over efficiency so much.
Yeah but you were responding to somebody talking about how teams played against us last season. That's not a discussion of efficiency and advanced metrics. It's really this simple: When you come up with a plan against another team, you focus on their top scorers, not the ones struggling to consistently break 15 points in a game. All these mark wars bullshit and Morey marks obsessed with efficiency without just having regular discussions about games is really the pits tbh. I'm a Rockets fan, I bought a Sengun jersey in their rookie season and a Green and Eason jersey this latest season. Jabari might be the one I buy this year if he stays on summer league form and doesn't underperform again. The fact remains that nobody is allowed to give any form of critique or anything that doesn't say Sengun's the GOAT without being swarmed by Sengtards spewing out advanced stats like they make up for the fact he vanishes a LOT in games (hence not actually putting up many big number games, which most future stars - like Jalen - do on the regular) and is just as bad as our other rookies defensively.
If opposing coaches post-game interviews are not good enough for you to believe that, nothing is. You are entitled to your d*mb opinion. Good luck with that.
Since we are posting meaningless stats to prove a wrong point, i'll take a shot. Double double games: Alperen Şengün: 29 Jalen Green: 0 Triple double games: Alperen Şengün: 2 Jalen Green: 0 It's kind of hilarious that Alperen has more triple doubles (2) in the month of January than Jalen has double doubles in his entire NBA career (0).
For the bolded parts No and No. You gameplan for a scorer to drop his efficiency. That's the whole point. Nobody cares if you score 50 on 30% ts. If you are losing that game, the reason is not the 50. That's why no team cares about kpj. He keeps holding onto the ball walking into double teams, without hitting open guys, moving the ball, creating for others or scoring on high efficiency. He gets a statline around 20/6/6 impressing some posters here on cf. You also gameplan for guys who can make the wheels turn, find the open man, get the ball moving, create something. Sengun is that guy in the rockets. Usually that role goes to the guards and teams are more prepared for that. That's part of the reason why they gameplan for Sengun. Green and Sengun were the two guys the opposing teams care about and your dislike for Sengun fans make you try to ignore one of them and put up a horrible argument to support your stance.
Points doesn't indicate best player or what other teams gsmeplan for. Gameplanning defense for a scoring iso wing is much simpler then a playmaking center skilled post player.
Is there really someone in here trying to argue opposing coaches come up with gameplans to stop high volume low efficiency scorers?? Lol The only gameplan you come up with is one that says let that dude keep shooting, especially if its at the expense of high efficiency players usage. I think JGs efficiency will improve meaningfully this year, but its just a wee hope and dream at the moment
You focus on who has the most impact, not who scores the most points. Jason Kidd struggled to consistently break 15 points in a game and only led his team in scoring for one season out of his entire career. He was horribly inefficient to boot. But he was a HOF player and clearly the focus of most of his teams. Defenses weren't focusing on Richard Jefferson. If you want a big man example, there's KG in Boston. Never led the team in scoring in any of his years there, never even broke 16ppg, but took them to the finals twice and was their MVP.
