Lopez likely isn't the first free agent to offer a verbal commitment and then back out, and he's not likely to be the last. Until they were 100% confident the deal was going to happen, they needed to have a contingency in place. Their Plan B amounted to losing a lot of value on deals to gain cap space they didn't need and then overspending. You can try and justify it all you want and put blame on Lopez, but the front office definitely deserves blame here. They messed up. It's OK to call them out for it.

Also, I wouldn't call the FVV an egregious overpay. A two-year max is decent value for a guy who was a top 5 free agent, and I don't see a ton of Rockets fans arguing the contrary. Brooks is the overpay.

I dont understand the logic in getting upset about moves made in preparation for a larger move and the impetus being on Stones part when it falls apart? TyTy, Usman and 2 second round picks were already gone - what should have been the contingency? Personally I think the contingency is staring at everyone in the face --- not enough playing time for everyone.

FVV was most definitely an overpay, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

The stench of Silas' utter incompetence just won't go away.

It won't go away because it is the same stench provided by the current Rockets sponsors who hired Silas and allegedly gave him the coaching instructions to do what he did for most part

those were Stone's practices, signed off by Tilman (true head honcho)

Hopefully they sign him and then cut Arkansas Williams remember we are second on the waiver wire. Bigger playing bigs are very much welcome.

He wasn't in the right place in Houston.

The right place is La Liga ACB.

He'll be there soon, maybe even this month when OKC has to go from 22 to 15 players.

    100% agree.

Rockets have the worst reputation for the past 3 seasons.

I’m little confused. Wasn’t he cut by OKC?

Curios to see. Usman never seemed explosive to me. His athletic ability is more Luis Scola than Serge Ibaka.

I was very excited to draft him, but he always looked slow and unexplosive to me.

The guy who played for Euro Champion Spain and contributed is very different than the guy who played for the dysfunctional Rockets team.

We can't pine over Garuba we kept much better players, he can't shoot, he is at best a backup role player.

    Let him go.

In 5 years we will be looking for Garuba types to fill out our roster, right now we are looking for HIM.

Usman doesn't understand trust. Remember when he trusted that fart?

same here but then he could have been just trying to do what he was told and thinking to much. With the disfunction under Silas it would shock me that okc would get more out of him than we got
