Exactly. The Pads gave up a ton for him and Bell and won't accept lame duck prospects or back of the order major leaguers in their place.

The Angels going all in looks pretty ridiculous now. Rangers and Astros not going anywhere.

my guess is it wouldn't be chas. others you mentioned plus possibly france, garcia (lance?) and any minor leaguers would be on the table i'd guess. i'd go for it. fills the current brantley hole, and next year's. as mentioned, we now have a serious 2024 starter overload, and this would be a way to condense it and get max big league value for it.

if it all is a mess in 2026, so be it, but who knows what happens between now and then anyway. maximize this 3 year window.

Yeah, I'd like another bullpen arm (or even two). The bat's are WS caliber, but I can't say that about the bullpen at their current workload.

He most likely wanted concessions from the Dodgers if he agreed to the trade to LA - and the Dodgers didn't give them to him.

From a financial perspective, he may be smart to stay in Detroit where he is comfortable, and opt out this Winter and look for a hundred million plus contract.

The Padres have been flip flopping this entire trade deadline. They are too far under to really make noise for the playoffs to be serious buyers, but even if they are they still would field offers on their current players to see the interest and what can they get out underneath from if need be.

With a revamped scouting operation and a great track record, Dana Brown will really prove his worth in finding and developing top tier talent. Look at what he helped find in Toronto and Atlanta.

Franklin Perez was ranked the 32nd best prospect in baseball (ranked only behind Tucker in our system) at the time we traded him for JV in 2017. He's currently a 25 year old middle relief pitcher with a 12.00 ERA in A-ball.

    Something to keep in mind.

i mean, maybe they've flip flopped if you define the time window broadly, but they bought rich hill and ji man choi *today.* they also swept the rangers this weekend and have an elite run differential. they aren't trading soto, zero percent.
