This makes me feel somewhat better, if Crane puts that money to good use (ie Tuck and/or Framchise). It still hurts seeing Cliff go, though.

Salary counts against us regardless of who pays it. Would've been nice to sneak Montero into it in exchange for that Met $$

The way I see it. OF is easier and easier to develop/acquire. Think about the Braves acquiring 4 rentals? in 2021 that paid off for them.

Verlander is 40+ years old. Chance's are you are going to get more out of Gilbert and Clifford in the majors more than two years (or 3 years) JV has left. If we win the WS, then I'll feel much better about it. Right now I am concerned how much we gave up. Crane looks desperate (I think Crane basically told Brown that you MUST get this done no matter what).

I will say that if they're paying at least half that salary it makes me feel much better.

The Astros absolutely, positively have to re-sign Kyle Tucker. It was obvious already but it’s even more so now. That is the #1 agenda this offseason.

The Astros won and lost this trade. They won because for ****s sakes, it’s Justin Verlander. On the other hand, they could’ve just signed him this past offseason. But what’s done is done. Time to repeat.

He's not getting nearly as many Ks or whiffs this year, and those are his bread and butter.

Parades over prospects. And the Mets are gonna pay a significant portion of his salary through 2025. Gotta give up something to get something. This is gonna be huge for this team.

I just need to remember that I thought we gave up too much for Greinke...and that none of those guys ever did much in Arizona.

Astros are probably still the most homegrown team in baseball. Every parade the Astros have had is based on the backs of their prospects (either through being badasses, extensions, or through trade).

Forest Whitley was supposed to be the next big thing. Prospects are all about luck,
