So much crap being put out by “insiders” to try to drive up price on JV. They keep adding teams to the mix, but then those teams magically trade for other players. I really believe it is Houston or nothing. Reason why this is taking so long is Crane is playing hard ball, trying to get the best price. I thought it would get done sooner, but I underestimated how hard Crane was gonna negotiate. Hopefully we get him.
White Sox say everyone but Roberts is available. I’d much rather chase Cease than revisit JV and his bloated contract.
He has a 1.49 ERA (3.18 FIP) & 1.07 WHIP in his last seven starts. Overall, he's only made 16 starts this year, which could mean he'll be better-rested come October. He would absolutely make this team better ,which, sure - needs youth. But, more importantly, they need to strike while this window is open.

Verlander is Crane's guy and if Cease was Astros dream target, I assume that's Brown's guy. Assume same prospects would be involved. Will there be conflict between Crane and Brown?
Bring us Cease! …and there is no logic whatsoever that will satisfy me that giving up Hunter Brown for JV makes sense. None! Don’t trade Hunter Brown or Ryan Clifford.
I get that. Perhaps I am an idealist, but if we have to give up future talent to get a piece, I want that piece to be part of our future (long term) as well.
