I actually took it as giving Dubon reps In CF to make sure he can be Chas' backup, as I fully expect Meyers and/or Julks to be traded in the next 24 hrs
Who knows how the next 23 hours will play out but prices seem to be coming down. The returns for Candelario, Canha, Sewald, and Civale all seem very reasonable to me.
Which would you rather have: McCormick/Maldy involved in a trade or Meyers/Julks? McCormick would be a loss but Maldy addition by subtraction and almost guarantees a larger haul. But hate to lose Chas
It's a tough choice, but I can deal with 56 more games of Maldy playing 75% of the time if we get to watch Chas for 3 more years.
And rightfully so… his contract status and production levels should be worth quite a bit. But hopefully it makes sense if he’s dealt
The Angels should be sellers regardless of what the playoff format is... can't account for teams that are just fooling themselves or in denial. The Mariners actually have the same record, more overall talent, a better rotation, had the most wins of any MLB team in July, and went on a white-hot run just last year to claim a playoff spot... and they're still selling off key parts with the presumption that this year is unlikely to result in a playoff appearance. Dipoto is basically getting prospects and some free money for good players (nobody foundational) that can only help them in upcoming years. I was upset as anybody when Luhnow didn't buy at the 2016 deadline when they were only 2-3 games back of a wild card spot... and only made one pseudo-selling deal. But oh what a deal that was and in hindsight (Fields for Yordan) had them in much better position to contend starting in 2017.
Soto would be the only possible star that hasn't been leaked (other than Vegas odds-makers), but still highly unlikely the Padres sell anybody.
The closer we get to the deadline, the more convinced I am that Eduardo Rodriguez is the big move the Astros make. There has just been no noise around him and that feels very Astro like. If the Astros don't bring in a bat to improve over Meyers and/or Julks vs RHP does Brown bring up Gilbert? That feels like a Dana Brown kind of move. Either way it's time for Julks to be optioned or traded.
I can't see Gilbert, hitting .241 in AA, skipping AAA for the majors this year. We wouldn't see him until Sept 2024 at earliest
What do y’all put the o/u on Houston trading for one of the following star players: Verlander, Cease, Eduardo Rodriguez, Snell, Soto, Robert, Barlow, Bednar, Logan Gilbert, or Mitch Keller?
