I would like Dusty to roll this lineup out one time. Yordan or Tucker batting 5th is costing us runs. Tucker Altuve Yordan Bregman Diaz Abreu Mccormick Julks Pena
Yordan -- a better hitter than Tucker -- requests his downgrade in the batting order because another player is hot. Maldy -- a much much far much worse hitter than Diaz -- insists he still plays everyday. The Tale of Two Mindframes
Shame to give up on Taylor who got lefties out really well, but if he couldn't make it back to the majors this f**king season, he must have really looked terrible in Sugarland. Clock seems to have struck 12 for Bielak. Regardless of whether it was luck or not, he played a huge role in keeping us afloat in what could have been a disaster. He'll probably be back up at some point, but hopefully he won't be needed in the rotation for anything more than a spot start moving forward.
Time to put Yordan back at the 3rd spot Dusty. Tucker is having a solid season but he’s not feared like Yordan batting 3rd in the lineup. **** getting annoying.
No need to keep Chas in the lineup, not in a meaningless regular season game. We can play him tomorrow when we sit Diaz again Only way would be for Brown to trade him Once Johnnie decides he likes someone, they gonna play
It is so weird how this has steamrolled. Last year, I was mostly just upset with Chas getting the shaft when he was on pace for a mere 3.5 fWAR season. This season, he's on pace for a 6-WAR if he played everyday even with the time missed for injury (I think Judge and Ohtani are the only ones on a better pace with at least 200 PAs ...edit: in the AL). I'm not sure what Chas can do from a performance-based standpoint to play everyday (i.e., rest similar to Tucker). Does he need to win AL MVP to get an everyday spot? That just isn't going to happen unless Ohtani gets traded to the NL and even then, Ohtani probably still wins AL MVP. Yainer Diaz is the best hitting catcher this season with an wRC+ of 166 (0.989 OPS) as a catcher and the Astros don't give up runs when he's the backstop. His OPS is practically double Maldy's as a catcher, but sucks as a DH. Dusty plays him mostly at DH. Meyers is basically the Chas of last year. He's an averagish bat that plays excellent defense, but is riding the pine most games lately for a worse hitter and worse defender. Getting Altuve and Alvarez back feels like just getting one back based on Dusty's decisions.
Dusty did this in 2022 but the Astros weren’t in second place. Not starting Chas is just stupid, unless there’s a reason he’s not starting.
Seems like whenever Dusty inserts Diaz into the lineup, he takes a good hitter out. Meyers AND Julks playing while Chas sits.
