India joins rush to renewables, but its rural solar systems fall off grid
A cautionary tale for a world racing into renewables: The large majority of mini-grids in India no longer work, an environmental group found

Skimmed through the article and not surprising as yes installing power infrastructure requires funding to maintain and training. Back when people were building coal plants in the third world they also had problems maintaining them because of lack of funding and training.

This isn’t an argument against renewables.

I couldn't find any published papers by him either which explains why he doesn't hold any posts. Probably he's one of those paid industry hacks.

Clearly every failure and setback with renewables is proof that they won't work anywhere in the world, and we should just go 100% petro.

He's more likely an unsuccessful grifter who has got the attention of the usual crowd.

Anyone taking a few seconds to think would have significant reservations about the language used in the tweet. Scientists don't typically converse in such a manner in public. It's a continuation of the sad reality of how people are so easily fooled.

If you look at the push back on here, it's clear that there isn't an interest in debating the science. It's just posting crap from twitter for laughs.

why would there be any need for or interest in debating the science? it's debating the policy response that is the interesting subject

Whoever this geologist is, he's very wrong if they've quoted him correctly on whatever type of media outlet that is.

I want a guy who (allegedly) studies rocks to tell me about the atmosphere.
And I want a plumber to fix my laptop also. Sounds good.

If x-ray techs can provide insight on covid, why can't this guy meaningfully engage on climate change? Don't be so hateful.

It’s like @Os Trigonum doesn’t read the **** he posts. Just googles a subject then spews crap all over. With no insight or critical thinking on the subject.

I assume the science was "set" and "rock solid" in 2009.

I agree with you on that 100%. I'm just saying there are a lot of posts saying the science is bunk without any evidence other than, "cause this geologist says so"
