    Let's keep it simple...

    Montero for Corbin
    Whitcomb for Lamonte Wade

    Playoffs:

    Lineup
    2B Altuve
    3B Bregman
    LF Alvarez
    RF Tucker
    1B Abreu
    CF McCormick
    C Diaz/Maldonado
    DH Wade/Dubon platoon
    SS Pena

    Rotation:
    Valdez
    Javier
    Urquidy
    Brown

    Bullpen:
    Pressly
    Neris
    Abreu
    Gravemen
    Stanek
    Corbin
    France
    Maton

That's better on paper than maybe anyone else in the AL.

Depends if the starters are back in grooves...

There's not a top of the rotation guy we can afford so no point getting another Urquidy level guy like Jordan Montgomery....

Let's not overreact, the Rangers are playing catchup to us. We're up 10+ games with Altuve and Yordan in the lineup.

Sure, they lost DeGrom, and we lost McCullers, Garcia, and Urquidy....

Pass on Corbin contract really is bad.
Contreras and they take 25% owed and we give Montero and Melendez and Durbin

Here's the deal that fixes everything.

E.Rodriguez, Cisneros, and Kerry Carpenter from Detroit for Corey Julks, Shawn Dubin, Melton, Barber, and Spencer Arrighetti.

I'm not jumping on you but, if I were a GM please tell me why I would want Montero and his contract. To me he seems almost untradeable.

I'd say Young is doing what one would expect from most GMs. I don't really care too much if the Rangers help themselves this year at this point. Two months left in the season. I expect randomness and injuries will factor more heavily on who wins the division at this point than deadline acquisitions. Rangers giving up prospects for a rental and an older SP is a plus for the Astros long term even if it helps the Rangers this year. Though, I was hoping the Rangers would overpay a little more.

For GMs without a chance in hell of being competitive in the next 2 years, they would want the prospects that the Astros would have to send out with him, and they have a chance that Montero catches fire in the next 2 years and becomes tradeable after in either 2024 or 2025 for even more prospects.

Framber, Javier, Brown, and a Urquidy/France piggyback for the post-season rotation? Maybe at that point you can also use one of Arrighetti and Gordon as a long man as well so you can keep Bielak/Martinez off the post-season roster.

Agreed! Texas hasn’t really “added” anything. Just Replaced two injured pitchers (DeGrom & Evoldi) with two lesser pitchers (Scherzer & Montgomery). If all were healthy maybe a different story. And we own Chapman. Stratton is meh.

All said and done I think we’ll add pitching. Starter would be great, but Hader would be awesome.

It's not merely a talent issue, it's a workload issue. We will need additional starters (beyond just Urquidy) to get through the remainder of the season and the playoffs. We are already seeing it with a few of the guys, but the sheer number of innings will catch up with our starters, if it hasn't already.

Dana Brown gets to choose in the next 36 hours if those arms come internally or externally... but they will be needed whether he publicly admits it or not. If he genuinely believes that our current island of misfit toys will carry us to a trophy, that's disqualifying as a major league GM.

Based on what it looks like the market is doing, I think getting Barlow and Hernandez from KC would be about the best move, provided it doesn’t cost Gilbert or more than 1 from their next tier of prospects (Barber, Loperfido, Dezenzo, Clifford, Baez, Arrighetti). Deepening the bullpen would shorten the games and take pressure off of Brown and Javier to go thru the lineup more than once in the playoffs. Both of those relievers are also under control beyond this season so it addresses a future need as well.

Some of our fans are acting like Yankees fans now. Dana Brown sucks and we have to make trades to catch up with the Rangers. LOL. We have heard Yankees fans complaining about Cashman not doing enough to match up with Astros for years at the trade deadline.

Let’s all be patience and wait till after trade deadline to see what/who we got. I still believe we have the team to win right now. Gotta stay healthy and have Diaz start more game at the catcher spot.
