Is the Astros pitching philosophy hard on arms?

Having deep playoff runs, injuries is hard on arms.

 

I vividly remember Doug Jones saving ~40 games despite not being able to break glass with the ball.

 

He’s waiting for someone else to write an article about it first, so he can cut and paste it here.

 

Dude spent his entire career looking like a long-haul truck driver, throwing wicked slop, and was a top-3 Cy Young Award guy two or three times.

 

He used to throw a mean 79mph forkball

 

IIRC he might have won some gold gloves for his fielding. Surprisingly light on his feet for a fat dude.

I brought this up a few times last year when Verlander and Kershaw were pulled even though they were throwing no hitters and looked strong. Pitchers like Nolan Ryan, Jack Morris and Randy Johnson wouldn’t have left the game if they were throwing like that.
