Worth pointing out again: This intentional absorption of others' identities into his own. Cult leaders and tyrants do this, of course. Any attack on the leader is an attack on all the members, because their individual identities no longer matter or are being replaced by a manufactured one that helps the cult leader. And he does this with "America." Calling him out for his (perceived, alleged, documented, whatever) crimes is actually an attack on "America." Super creepy, psychologically. Chilling. I'm guessing, in related news, this helps explain the not-quite-cultish-but-cynically-onboard efforts of right wing media recently to ramp up complaints about the Biden family, and even the Obamas in more fringy threads/outlets -- help the cult members keep believing in the messiah but tossing up distractions that help them believe all politicians get equally tarnished with criminal charges, so there's nothing to worry about with their glorious leader.
