I doubt they’ll sell… they just wont buy. Sorta what the Astros did in 2016 (who were even closer at the time to the wild card spot…) Luhnow did make one deadline trade in 2016… worked out pretty well long-term.
Don't look now but only 9 teams have scored more runs than the Astros. Last 31 games 5.74 runs per game That's better than the 17 Astros (5.41), 2019 (5.51), 2021 (5.34). And it is just behind the league leading Rangers (5.77). Just as a reference point.
OPS .728 (15th) ---> .736 (12th) HRs 130 (10th) ---> 135 (9th) Stros might have the best offense in baseball with the biggest bats returning from injury and without Maldy. Chas, Bregs, Abreu, and Tucker are all surging, and maybe Pena too with his return to the 2 hole. Pitching ERA is 3rd in the league and shouldn't regress with the Graveman addition and Urquidy incoming. Verlander would sure take pressure off Framber if he needs a couple weeks to recover from whatever is ailing him.
Hopefully the Astros left some bullets in the chamber and didn't fire all of them tonight. It would suck to lose a series to this struggling team. And don't look now but we're tied with the Blue Jays and the Yankees and Red Sox are only 2.5 and 3.5 games back respectively. Things could easily go awry if we stand still, both on and off the field.
Damnit. I flew around the world and go to my first game in two years today … and given Astros history after blowouts, they will be shut out, esp as Dusty will likely start the all-Bligh lineup. Let’s hope the reverse jinx is stronger than the blowout trend.
As predicted- SuperNova incoming for this second half. Zero free outs if Maldy isn’t in there. Astros need a SP.
They’re actually closer to the division lead (1 game) and only 2 back in the loss column of the wild card lead. perspective is a b****!
Rays 34-37 last 71 Rangers 20-25 last 45 I think the Rays are at the point that this is who they are, a team that may not even be playoff worthy. Rangers headed in that direction.
