Sitting on 30 dozen outfield prospects is asinine. It doesn't keep out window open OR help us win the championship, which is the one and only thing that matters - and our window won't stay open forever! Trading a handful of prospects isnt going to make us the 2009 Astros, that's just completely ridiculous for so many reasons. Your fears are as irrational as your priorities are skewed.
I agreed. We have a very good rosters returning next year. This year is cursed with all the injuries and not going our way. Saying that, I hope that Dana doesn’t mortgage our farm system just because some feel like the window is closing. Our window is not closing until Jim Crane say so. We’re not closing anytime soon. Adding a Graveman type reliever they cost us nothing is what we really need. Another starter would be great but not if it cost us Gilbert, Clifford or Baez. And even if we add another SP, if Framber and Javier can’t pull their heads out of their asses, we’re not going far in the playoff.
True, but I think being a GM is kind of like being an actor; you can survive acting in bombs or passing on movies that do ok, but passing on a smash hit will ruin your career. Similarly, GMs can trade away infinite prospects who bust or even trade away a bunch of prospects who become moderately good players, but if you trade away Yordan Alvarez for Josh Fields, you’re ****ed (unless you’re the Dodgers who can buy their way out of those mistakes).
You can trade really good prospects - but you need back really good players under team control. The Braves did it the right way with Olson and Murphy. The Cardinals as well with Arenado and Goldschmidt.
I understand what you are saying But right now, with 59 games left, they are in playoff position, 2 1/2 games up on Boston. Next year every team starts 0-0
I get what you're saying, but if you get the chance to trade for an ace with years of control you do it and thank your lucky stars.
We should trade OFers, but which ones? I'd love for us to hang on to Gilbert, Baez, & Loperfido, followed by Clifford, Melton & Barber. But the same reasons why I think we should hang onto those guys is why they will be valued by other teams.

Outside of Cease (I don’t think he’s going anywhere), what other aces with years of control are available? After the Giolito trade, I doubt any team will fork up what CWS want for Cease.
At this point, I think it’s Verlander who has 2 more years after this one, is about the only option for TOR. I think we will have to overpay for him a lot and still might get outbid by the Rangers.
And, honestly, they're replaceable. They're still prospects and there's no guarantees they even get to the majors, let alone become major contributors. So if a couple of them get us a good SP or top reliever and keep us as favorites, I do it.
Verlander has a full no trade clause. Being outbid by the Rangers might not even matter if he wants to stay in NY or go somewhere else like LA.
Personally, I think there’s zero chance that we would overpaid for JV. His contract is not sustainable for Astros unless the Mets take back Montero. I think Astros just throwing their name in to gauge interest so the Rangers would panic and overpaid for JV.
I believe he stays in NY. If he doesn't then he gets to choose. Do not be surprised if the Dodgers get involved or even San Fran. But he doesn't need to be here in Houston. We need a different way. There are other options out there. I would take Chris Bassit from the Blue Jays. He is solid. I would try for Cease or Snell. But I would clear my self of Verlander. He made leaving personal. So bye falcia
JV stands at 249 wins. I don’t think anything is more important to him than getting to 300wins. If Cohen says to JV, it’s rangers or stay here bc Astros aren’t offering enough, I think JV is a Ranger. Rangers can overpay and make it near impossible for us to make it close in value to the Mets.
How about Korey Lee, Seth Martinez, Forrest Whitley and Ryan Stanek for Tanner Scott and Sixto Sanchez Other then that Imma not Intreasted.
So you didn't hear him say O there's to much pressure in Houston? That he can't take the high demand of the Team and Fans? Guess not.
