MILWAUKEE (Reuters) - Teresa Heinz Kerry, the outspoken wife of Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry (news - web sites), pulled no punches on Monday in telling a rally what she thought of the Bush administration -- hell. And later, discussing the war in Iraq (news - web sites), Heinz Kerry subtly questioned Republican President Bush (news - web sites)'s intellect, saying: "It's vital for anyone with intelligence to acknowledge mistakes and change positions -- hello." When a Bush supporter with a bullhorn shouted "four more years" from the back of a large crowd packed into a downtown Milwaukee park, Heinz Kerry, who was introducing her husband, responded: "They want four more years of hell." "Three more months!," she declared, referring to the Nov. 2 presidential election. Last week at the Democratic Convention in Boston, where Kerry formally accepted his party's nomination as Bush's opponent, Heinz Kerry briefly caused a stir when she told a reporter to "shove it." "She speaks her mind and she speaks the truth and she's pretty quick on her feet too," the Massachusetts senator said when he took the microphone in Milwaukee. "That's why America is going to embrace her and she'll make a spectacular first lady of the United States of America." http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&u=/nm/20040803/pl_nm/campaign_kerry_heinz_dc_1&printer=1
Well, everyone knows that all First Ladies should just keep their mouths shut, bake cookies, and read books to schoolchildren, don't they?
So, we allow Bush supporters to attend and we don't ask for the race of the reporters. Even if we lose, I'm happy to say I'm not aligned with those idiots...
"Oh great King! We can barely see you above this fence! Please deign us with your infinite knowledge!"
Apparently the good people of Minnesota, wouldn't pledge to vote for Bush, or give out what race they were and weren't allowed beyond the fence. Bush/Cheney apparently only want certain types of people at their events, and this group didn't qualify. On a more serious note... Some people may not like to delve too deeply into issues, because of time restraint, or they don't trust what ANY of the politicians say on the matter. If those voters would just look at how each nominee is handling their campaign events the difference is clear.
With people like Dick leading the battle for the hearts and minds of Iraqis, I'm stunned we're not doing better over there... _______________ Cheney to take questions at 'town hall' meeting in Joplin Tickets for the Wednesday event are already gone. Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, have made numerous campaign stops together and will appear Wednesday in Joplin. Steve C. Wilson / the Associated Press By James Goodwin News-Leader Vice President Dick Cheney is hosting a "town hall" meeting Wednesday in Joplin, the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign announced Monday. Tickets are no longer available for the 12:30 p.m. campaign event, which will include Cheney's wife, Lynne, at John Q. Hammons Convention Center. "They'll take questions from the audience, hear what's on the audience's mind and talk about President Bush's optimistic message of economic growth (and) job creation," said Anne Womack, Cheney's campaign spokeswoman. "(They will) also talk about the plans to fight and win the war on terror and keep Americans safe here at home." Womack estimates about 400 people will attend, including community leaders. The campaign notified the news media of the event Monday morning. Tickets were gone within 90 minutes. Gregg Keller, another campaign spokesman, didn't respond immediately to questions about whether passes were ever available to the general public. Said Womack: "The tickets are largely reserved for supporters of the president, people who are open to hearing his message of optimism, people who volunteer. "Those people work very hard to support the president, and we think it's important that they have an opportunity to hear from Vice President Cheney." An estimated 9,000 people attended Bush's July 30 speech at Hammons Field in downtown Springfield. The Cheneys last visited southwest Missouri in June, when they drew about 1,200 supporters to the Springfield Exposition Center. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential hopeful, and running mate John Edwards wrapped up a statewide tour with their families last week. Edwards said Thursday he was "sure" that he, Kerry or both men would visit Springfield before the November general election, though no date has been set. The Joplin convention center where Cheney will speak is near Interstate 44 at Exit 8B. The address is 3615 Range Line Road. http://www.news-leader.com/today/0810-Cheneytota-152282.html
"The tickets are largely reserved for supporters of the president, people who will only ask questions we tell them to and won't press the president about how his policies have failed them personally."
