Starters Fred Van Vleet - 32 minutes Jalen Green - 30 minutes Dylan Brooks - 32 minutes Jabari Smith - 30 minutes Alperen Sengun - 30 minutes Second Unit Kevin Porter Jr. - 24 minutes Amen Thompson - 20 minutes Tari Eason - 24 minutes Jock Landale/Jae’Sean Tate/Cam Whitmore - 18 minutes in some ratio Everyone Else - basically nothing, except for foul trouble, injuries, certain matchups, etc. https://www.thedreamshake.com/2023/...yer-minutes-forecast-playing-time-development This seemed a reasonable place to start.
First FIVE Van Fleet Green Eason Smith Sengun Second Five Thompson Porter Brooks Whitmore Landale REST Tate, Hinton, Green,Holliday, Hudgins and Days..............Y
Seems reasonable. It wouldn’t surprise me if Tate starts as the backup 3, but Cam supplants him by the trade deadline.
Starters 1) VanVleet..........34 minutes 2) ??? (pending) 3) Dillon Brooks...29-30 minutes 4) Jabari...............28-30 minutes 5) Sengun.............30-32 minutes Others Who knows....depends on Udoka, who is unpredictable. Tari.......................19-21 minutes Jeff Green...........10-12 minutes Jock Landale.......13-16 minutes Udoka leans: 1) defense 1st 2) passing 2nd....... 3) spacing a distant 3rd (apparently) mix in: 1) Vets.....winning 2) Development....not as important as winning first ________________ Worst thing I see with Udoka is this ego/pride thing in which he stated, "I've never missed the playoffs [ as head coach ]" Please, you've been a head coach one year. It's not like we are talking about 30 seasons and being in the playoffs 30 years. Insisting on making the playoffs this season overrules development and forced the Rockets to cut corners and make bad decisions this past off season. But we shall see.
Tate will likely get many more minutes than Thompson and Cam unless these rookies make an immediate impact.
Average minutes FVV 34 MINS Jalen 32 Mins Brooks 28 Mins Jabari 28 Mins Sengun 28 mins Amen 20 Mins KPJ 25 Mins Tari 25 Mins Jock or Cam 20 mins I expect there will be games we are comfortable running Jabari at the 5 & others we aren't. Which will probably lead to either Jock or Cam playing.
FVV - 32 Amen 16 Green - 30 KPJ 12 Amen 6 Brooks -28 KPJ 15 Tari 5 Jabari - 26 Tari 22 Sengun - 30 Jock 12 Jabari 6 FVV 32 Jabari 32 Green 30 Sengun 28 Brooks 28 Tari 27 KPJ 27 Amen 22 Jock 12 That's 9. Spot minutes for J Green, Tate and Cam. I'd love to see Cam crack the rotation but I can't find the minutes at the 2 or 3. Amen will play more than expected for his defensive ability to guard 1-3. Should be quite a battle for PT in training camp.
Jabari/JGreen/KPJ are the players who will get reduced minutes from the last year. JGreen and KPJ played more than 34 minutes and Jabari did 31. There is no way these players can get that much playing time this year. Sengun played 28.9 mpg and might play same or little bit over. As KPJ was darling of Silas, we might witness same for Udoka-FVV-Brooks. Sooner or later this salary fillers will be out of rotation but not yet. Rockets will suffer little bit more. No problem. Suffering makes you mature. Be patient Tari/Amen/Cam. Unfortunately TyTy will have no playing time this year. Bunch of idiots sent him away.
FVV, Green, Brooks, Smith, Sengun, Porter, Eason, Landale & Amen & Cam everyone needs time. Some need more than 24 minutes others need less. As long as each minute is earned, I haven’t any issue with what coach does with the 240.
I'd rather him get back up 5 minutes. From Jackson's report it sounds like the second unit may be Amen-Cam-Bullock-Eason-J Green. Works for me. Finally some spacing in the second unit.
