If you made all time Astro teams where player's last names all started with the same letter, which team would be the best? We all know that there have been several All Star, All time great hitters who start with "B" but not much pitching. "C" has great pitching and deep hitting. "R" has the best pitching IMO but not enough hitters to field a team. Criteria: Hitters must have played at least 100 games for the Astros. They must have played at least 5 games at the position you assign them. A team must have at least 1 player at each position + a DH. Pitchers must have at least 15 games started or 50 games played for the Astros and must be in a role ( starter or reliever) they actually pitched in at least 20% of their appearances. Teams are 9 position players, 3 starting pitchers, and 4 relief pitchers.
Got to be A, right? Altuve, Alvarez, Alou, Abreu, Abreu, Ausmus, Aspormante, Alfaro, Anthony Anduar, astacio, astacio Abreu, Anderson, Agosto, Albers.
I think you can eliminate about half the alphabet right off the bat because there aren't players who fit your criteria.
I like "C" C- Castro 1b- Cabell 2b- Candaele 3B- Caminiti SS- Correa LF- Cangelosi CF- C. Cedeno RF - Cruz Dh - Carter SP- Clemens, Cellar, Cole RP- George Culver, Jeff Calhoun, Jim Coesi, Ron Cook.
I think there are only 11 letters that have 9 hitters who have played 100+ games. "D" Doesn't have catcher until Yainer gets 100 g. Haven't really checked beyond A-D. "A" isxweak at 1B. Jose Abreu will qualify and improve their team in 4 more games.
