    Actually, 1/3 of Hakeem's number minus 1 is 10 1/3, not 11. Just being anal here... :D

    Just some missing brackets:

    One third of (Hakeem's number minus 1) = 1/3 of (34-1) = 33/3 = 11 :D :D :D

I am a bit dismayed over the thought of someone other than JYD wearing #17, but here is to hoping that #17 will again be one of the role players to help lead the Rox to a championship!

I read the missing brackets when I saw it, too. Funny how us math guys are.

Why not? If they never have any plans of retiring either jersey and the incoming player requests it what's the big deal?

I didn't see the outcry when McGrady stole Juaquin Hawkins #1 jersey. :)

I think the reason why people care so much about Sura having the number 3 is because everyone is so used to seeing Steve in it. Im sure if the number was given to a player that was better then Steve then it wouldnt be a big deal. Its just hard to see that number on a player that isnt as good as a player as Steve is. Well thats just my opinion on the whole number situation.

I know that #3 will not be retired as Steve's number, but still, he was just here and it doesn't seem appropriate-with the way he left and all. I 'm not saying don't use #3 ever again, but give it some more time. Like Mario, it's been a while, I'm ok with using his number. I wouldn't have thought it was appropriate to use it right after he left. But in the end, it's just a number and not much more...I think we should all move on.

    No
    cause they are REAL FANS.

Fans who not only care about wins and loses, but care about memories and personalities.

I guess Manny, a number is a number for you. So a W or L is just a number also. A championship is also a number. Players are just numbers too. They have no soul.

I'm with the Rocket Fans with SOUL.

I guess you're the type of Rocket fan who doesnt care if Karl Malone is a Rocket or not. You are the type of fan who doesnt boo Sam Perkins or Scottie Pippen.

This is what is wrong with the NBA. No one has SOUL anymore.

    NWO,
how would you feel if someone took the Hulkster's move?
or how would you feel if someone else took Stone Cold's name or image?
How do you feel if I told you wrestling is not real??

I have no problem with them taking the numbers...

It may sound strange, but it will be stranger for me to see someone other than elie in the number 3 than it will be to see someone else in the number 3 jersey.. I guess we all remember those champ years more fondly than the last 9

I don't remember when people were mad when....

Sam Mack and then Adrian Griffin took over #7 from Carl Herrera

Bryce Drew and a guy named Ming took #11 from Maxwell

Don McClean took #25 from Horry for a couple preseason games

Scottie Pippen,Eddie Griffin and Oakley took #33 from OT

Tierre Brown and Lue took 10# from Sam Cassell

Two Sandwiches took #30 from Kenny Smith

Steve was such a classy dude, he even showed up to China for Yao:(

Don McClean sang that American Pie song, so he's ok in my book.

I dont like EX-KNICKS getting Rocket's numbers!
