I could give a **** about the division. At this point it’s a “nice to have” but not a need. If we go WC give me the third to face the ALC winner. Get back who need healthy, pick up some items at the deadline and I’m good. We have a couple huge holes with the A&A brothers out. I’m just not on the doomsday train at this point. Reminder, how many 100+ games has a certain CA based team won in the RS with Jack **** to show for it? PS is a different ballgame folks, we just need to get there.
Good news everyone in the wildcard race lost tonight. Orioles, Blue Jays, Yankees, Red Sox, Mariners.
I do not get Dusty's fascination with Bligh Madris. Dude is worthless, he should never be brought in to pinch hit, especially with the game on the line.
But he's hitting a hot .130. Glad I slept thru this one. Three runs in the first and give the lead right back and never score another run at Coors. Brown is the next Verlander? 6-7 w/a 4.26 ERA.
You Debbie Downers are too spoiled. Yes it’s sucks losing to an inferior team but it happens. It’s crazy with all the injuries that this team is where it is. Says a lot about the org imo. If we can get healthy and make a deal or two the Astros will be just fine. I’ll see you bamdwagoners soon.
"well, if you fire him you might as well fire me too." -Dusty, to the Reds, right before they fired him.
This is what I have been saying. If Jake, Julks, Maldy, Pena, or Dubon are due up Late needing a quality AB to win the game, vs a tough RH pitcher the numbers say they must be PH for, but who can that be? Right now it's Madris.
Michael Brantley as soon as he overcomes his latest plateau! ...or give Dirden a shot? I'd be good with that. We need a spark.
Where was the complaining about this the previous day when Madris PH for Meyers in the 9th inning, walked, and scored to start the comeback rally? Madris sucks. So does Jake. They are both going to fail the vast majority of the time. That's what happens when you have multiple key injured players and no bench depth. The lineup that everyone begged for and has complained that Dusty would never used scored 3 runs in Coors field against no-name pitchers and got shutout for 8 straight innings. But yes, lets complain about Dusty using Bligh Madris.
Baseball Reference and Fangraphs agree that 8 teams have less than 5% chance of making the playoffs. Nats, Cards, Pirates, Rockies, Tigers, W.Sox, Royals, A's. (BR also has Mets) On those 8 teams, 21 players are at least 10% above MLB avg (by wRC+) in at least 100 PA. I took out players that obviously will not be traded, or otherwise don't meet team needs. That leaves 12 players: Pit-Jack Suwinski 141 Det- Riley Greene 138, Kerry Carpenter 138, Matt Vierling 120 St.L- Brendan Donovan 136 ChW- Luis Robert 128, Eloi Jimenez 111 Oak- Ryan Noda 128, Brent Rooker 120, Seth Brown 113 Was- Jeimer Candelario 127 Col- Nolan Jones 123 ( also 123 on road)
Yup. All I hear is how inconsistent this offense is or nowhere close to being contenders. There are only a few teams that can stay above .500 with their 2 best players missing in the lineup. yet here they are. 8-10 games above .500 leaving August and September to strike. The only worrisome thing is if these guys re-injure themselves which is not suckage just snake bit. Htown fans have become so used to our division sucking that they have forgotten that division races are the norm and what makes the MLB fun.
Would also help if guys like Pena or Montero weren't underperforming/regressing from last year... or Bregman's inconsistencies were less... or Jose Abreu was not so hot/cold/hot. They've withstood a lot to be right where they are.
