I see Kawhi as a semi superstar. His availability and not totally committing to a franchise, is what makes him flawed in my eyes. The IQ off the court making great decisions is lacking. Top 5 players in this league are so called Superstars. Others can be Superstars in the making or cultural Superstars, popular pretending Superstars.
Jalen is 21, and was 21 before the season ended, so technically he doesn't belong on the list...not that it matters because all it's saying is that he was allowed to chuck enough to score 22 a game, something most players could do if their team allowed it. It's not actually an impressive thing, it's just a sign of how the Rockets just let him do whatever he wanted because Jalen's chucking helped them tank. Out of curiosity, because you cropped it the way you did, where did Jalen rank in PPG in that group? As a follow up, where did Jalen rank in FG% among those players? Because, you know, if it was dead last in both, that would be just embarrassing wouldn't it?
MVP Tier : Amen All-NBA 3rd Team tier : Green / Sengun All-Star Tier : Jabari Elite Role player tier : Tari / Cam ****DISCLAIMER THIS IS JUST HIGHEST CEILING POTENTIAL NOT EXPECTATIONS*****
He was last. Last after Zion. But you’re right. Let’s change the list a little as Zion really isn’t a good comparison. Are you saying it’s “embarrassing” to be last on this list? And no, I’m not manipulating data — only five players in history have averaged 22 points a game while playing over 70 games when they started the season at 20 years old or younger.
No, I'm saying it's embarrassing that you are attempting to push a dishonest narrative and to have intentionally cropped out the stats. Your list merely shows that the Rockets let Jalen chuck as much as he wanted to because it hurt the team so much and they were tanking. You could have put Jabari on that list too if the Rockets let him take as many shots as he wanted to instead of Jalen. Your list attempts to suggest that Jalen is a quality player on par with those others, and there's simply nothing to support that delusion.
Random thought that maybe able to add prospective to this topic. Are all stars born or made? Do we want all stars or championships? Some players just can’t be denied. In Houston this is Dream & Harden. Harden NEVER won championship. Dream NEVER won a championship till Sam and Robert came along then NOTHING after they left. Both Sam and Robert went on to win several more titles for several more teams. Sam and Robert’s success is as champions is evident. -A team is only as good as it’s worst player -An all star will make the players better around him -A coach / system makes players better -A perfect storm has to happen to win titles As a fan championships mean more and have a higher value then MVPs and all stars appearances. All this said => my hope is in this mix of talent we have, there are some key players that makes teams great. Like: Horry, Cassell, Horace Grant, AC Green, Rodman, Parrish, Iguolada or Green type players. Without key players (that are all stars level themselves) we will have more Harden like MVPs that are meaningless.
Whatever you say. There have been a ton of high draft picks taken by teams who let them shoot. What’s dishonest is being too stubborn to acknowledge this point. Oh, by the way, at 20, Booker averaged 22 points on a .531 TS%. Green’s TS% was actually higher last season at .538.
Liked what little I saw of Amen but definitely not making any assumptions until he competes against another NBA roster.
Keep the delusion going as long as you can hero. At some point your guy is going to actually have to play well or there's not enough cope in the world to keep this up.
Amen easily. Amen has the second highest ceiling of any player drafted in the last 4 drafts. If you include the last 5 he would have the third behind Wemby and Zion.
"Regardless of what Sengun becomes defensively" comes across as no accountability for Sengun on defense, yet Jabari who's actually accountable on defense & has MORE offensive potential is difficult to omit? A superstar player can't be a complete liability on one side of the ball

I voted Green and Amen. Sengun is my 3rd vote behind the two. Contrary to popular opinions here, I think his defense is passable. The guys always hustles and gives full effort. That’s all I can ask for. His supposed “terrible defense” is mostly due to his physical limitations. There’s not much we can do about that. Ideally he needs to play with a rim protector to cover his weaknesses. What I think will either make or break him is shooting. If he can improve his outside shooting, Sengun has the potential.
I thought I'd wait until the end of training camp, maybe even pre-season before I make that decision. I've never really even watched Jock Landale play and who knows - we may add somebody like Nate Hinton or Jay Huff to the roster.
I feel like Whitmore fills the JC role. Another talented athletic scorer in a lock jam who probably won't get much playing time.
