Assuming that we cant get anything done with our point guard scenerio, what about re-signing Mark Jackson for one more year and splitting the minutes between him and Ty Lue? Lue would be the starter and be complement TMac and Yao with his speed and quickness and penetration, while Jackson would be the veteran backup who can control game tempo. Both have 3-point range, yet thats where the similarities end, and I thought Jackson did a memorable job as a backup last season. Plus, this would likely also give us a chance to let Reece Gaines grow as a third-string PG who can learn and could also possibly see spot minutes as well.

I'd like someone who can at least guard a 5-year-old, one-legged girl in my point guard slot.

    i'm not against that...

Mark Jackson played pretty well in his limited minutes... but i mean i haven't heard anything about him, probably is contemplating retirement right? he's not gonna catch stockton, he's getting older, what's his motivation?

If we can't get anything else done, I don't mind a Lue/Gaines/MJaXX trio at PG.

MJaxx woujld be more like a mentor, someone who could probably play 10-15 minutes.

I don't mind Jackson playing 12, Lue playing 28, and Gaines playing 8 on average. Hopefully, Gaines start the season off by barely playing, and ends up eating a lot of Gaines and Jackson's minutes to the point where the position is basically split between Lue and Gaines, maybe 28 minutes for Lue and 20 minutes for Gaines?

It's not ideal, but it's not bad. I think MJazz could really help Lue and Gaines become solid players.

The man is 60 and is losing his legs. With this young core we got, we can't have a washed up PG running this squad.

I would really prefer that not even be entertained as an option at this point. That would be absolutely LAST RESORT and there is no reason for things to come to that.

We're getting closer and closer to Charlie Ward as the days (and the remaining PGs) pass us by...

Hmmm, 20 minutes of watching Gaines' play at the point and I'm afraid that you may very well end up shooting your TV...

    I'd rather see Wilks play.

Guys, guys, guys. . . . The PG situation is not a problem, it's an opportunity . Think of the marketing potential!

There are many, shall we say, "less traditional" ways to find our starting Point Guard:

    - "The Celebrity Point" a different one for each game of the year. Guaranteed sellouts. Some examples: Willl Farrell, Dave Chappelle, Jim Carrey, Prince, Lindsay Lohan, etc.

    - "The Enforcer" --- Each game, we work with the Houston Prison system and give probation to one of the inmates, provided that he break the kneecaps of the opposing team's best player.

    - "The Fan is #1" -- Self-explanatory. Each game, one lucky fan gets to start at the 1-spot for our Houston Rockets.

    - "The Stripping Point" -- We hire a stripper to run our offense. Sure, she might not have the best fundamentals, but she'll distract the opposing team with lap dances. She'll also gyrate around the basket-pole thinggie (the thing at the base of the hoop) as if it were her stripping pole. Oh, and she'll make-out with the Power Dancers during timeouts. What's not to like?

    Tim? :D

If you saw the Chappelle's Show bit with Prince and the New Power Generation schooling Charlie Murphy and his boys on the court, I'd have to say that Prince might not be a bad choice as permanent celebrity PG. If you could get him to stop wearing the high-heeled boots, that is ...

Statistically Jackson was awful last year, just awful. He was slightly better than Moochie and that was it. Mike Wilks would be better.

He was terrible on defense and even worse on offense and got destroyed by the opposition.

He couldn't give the Rox an effective 10 or 15 minutes last year; I don't see how he could do it this year. He's done, and has been for some time.

Ohmigod I DID see that show-- hysterical stuff. Maybe that's why I subconsciously connected Prince and Chappelle. "Game. Blouses." lol.

He's only gonna have "free time" from November to January. Instead of playing two months with the Rockets, I'm guessing he'll be selecting his new Cabinet and what not. ;)
