he pulls off the biggest trade of the summer, or at least tied for first with shaq.

if he can find a PG, C, and a way to move 1 of our PF's....or at least 2 of the 3, i think he has a chance at it this year.

TMac is the guy who orchestrated the trade.

right, it´s not that the magic had any other oppurtunity, since t-mac said, he would only re-sign with the rockets....

after all, CD´s only job was to hit the trade checker on realgm and check the salaries :D

If he does those things, we're most likely a championship contender, in which case yes, he would have a shot at it.

If we are in the 4-6 place range in the WC, I'm willing to bet that Riles would beat him out. Look at last year; Kiki orchestrates the most remarkable turnaround in recent history, yet Dumars wins it because the Pistons are so good.

and amazingly, it was dumars skipping on melo that allowed the huge turnaround to take place. dumars turned two franchises around.

Uh, Dumars didn't win it last year. He won it the year before.

And passing on Anthony was good for Detroit.

I never thought there would be a day when I see "CD" and "GM of the Year" togther. Especially not after Moochie, Anderson, Griffin, Taylor, Cato... Did I miss anyone?

Trading for T-Mac is hardly a great accomplishment considering the situations. Heck, the Wolves GM last year got the team Sam Cassell, Spree, and the Conference Finals(for a perennial 1st round exit team) and didn't even win.

The Rockets still had to come up with an attractive package. Who drafted/acquired the players that made up that package? Orlando could have kept McGrady.

One important thing your forgetting here.......

Phoenix made an offer that would have trumped our offer. Indy can say the same thing.

If T-Mac hadnt have opened his mouth and instead, welcome a trade to anywhere, he probably wouldnt have been in Houston right now.

But becuase he voiced his opinions and made a couple threats not to resign, Orlando was virtually forced to deal him to Houston.

But I will give CD this......getting Orlando to throw in its second best player in the deal (Howard) was a coup. This season, he will be a bigger upgrade over Cato at the starting PF then most people think now that he's playing with a center who can take some defensive pressure off of him. And plus, JVG will get the best out of him anyways.....

CD is only 1/3rd of an acquisition that anyone on this BBS could have made.

He should get no credit for getting T-Mac.

However, if we get a backup C and a PG while losing a PF, then we can talk GM of the year.

Right now, the Jazz may be up there, with the Heat also there. Shaq didn't force a trade to Miami, he offered a LIST of teams he would go to. So Miami DID have to make an effort to convince him.

Yikes, you're right, it was Logo.

I think the fact that he won it largely because of the Posey acquistion blocked it from my memory... :(

Couldn't you compile a similar list of just about any GM who's been around as long as CD?

CD is probably the longest tenured GM in the league right about now, correct?

I'm thinking, even in ****ups per season, CD would have a semi-decent score.

But then again, it's been pointed out time and time again that 3 people influence roster decisions almost equally - Les, CD and the coach.

What has CD done again? As others have stated already, Tmac demanded Houston.

This FA market is drying up, and we may be left with C. Ward for PG. That would leave CD far from the GM of the year, perhaps the procrastinator of the year.

Not when (A) you have as few great accomplishments as CD and (B) we're talking about 'GM of the Year' and not whether CD should be fired.
