I almost gave up when Ford said " Montero is warming up." Neris getting out of the bases loaded jam with no outs was amazing. His reaction was even better. Win to tomorrow.
That one almost feels like two wins. Neris’ 8th inning was quite the emotional rollercoaster. Huge win!
Ya know...last year Castro hit a game winning HR in a game pitched by the staff ace, and then he never played again and retired...
something that occurred during JRod AB that no one talked about. when he stepped out and took his gear off because he thought it was ball 4 but wasn't, how was that not a clock violation since he took forever to step back into the box?
I am pretty sure the umpire has discretion on when to call it. It’s not a hard rule. I saw the end of an A’s game a few weeks ago where Aledmys Diaz had a full count in a one run game in the 9th. He called for a timeout but the ump apparently didn’t see it and then rung him up on a clock violation. That ump would have probably called that one on JRod. That would have been a pretty lousy way to end a game, though.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023...-astros-appearances-converts-2024-option.html Astros right-hander Hector Neris made his 110th appearance tonight since signing a two-year, $17MM deal with Houston prior to the 2022 season. Tonight’s appearance triggered a clause in that contract converts the deal’s $8.5MM team option ($1MM buyout) into a player option. Neris needed to reach either 60 appearances in 2023 or 110 appearances between 2022 and 2023 to convert the option. With tonight’s appearance in the books, the 34-year-old righty will have control of the option this coming offseason, though the Associated Press notes that if Neris ends the 2023 campaign on the injured list or fails to pass a physical after the season, the Astros will retain control of the option.
I think we could all agree this would be a perfect last at bat in Maldonado's career. Just walk away.
Let's figure out a way to win tomorrow. Put Seattle 6 games back of us just like when this series started. We got some easy games coming up after the ASB before we get to the Rangers again.
Looks at Facebook and Twitter... and folks are pointing to this game saying this is why Maldy should start every day still
