Just keeping y'all updated on guard signings ... really, only Sura and Charlie Ward are left on the market, at this point. There's gotta be a trade in the works, though I would really hate to trade Juwan Howard ... that guy is exactly the right kind of power forward to start for this team. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nba&id=1854596
Ward would not be so bad if we were to lose Lue for Daniels or Mcginnse... or however you spell that dudes name from the Cavs...
no kidding... and where is all this trade Howard talk ?!? - I believe that the Rox intend to keep the Magic players they got in the trade and will focus on unloading Pike or A. Griffin (or future draft picks) for years people over-rated Howard... now I think that people are starting to under-rate him. He is the starting 4 next year - he and JJ give this team a couple of good character, experience high--ebd role players to take some of the load off Yao and T-mac. If the Rox move a PF - I think they would lose Mo (just b/c of his contract)
They won't move Taylor because of his contract. He's unmoveable. No team wants him. Howard was overrated back in Washington. Underrated during his stint in Dallas. But I think he went back to overrated after that season with Denver.
They won't move Taylor because Houston needs offense...and whether you agree/have observed or not, Taylor is a physical presence in the paint. It's too early to determine the starting lineup, but if Houston had to keep Taylor or Howard, I would vote for Taylor. Frankly, there are only a few forwards in the leauge that are better than Taylor. Howard is not one of them. Taylor is the perfect fit off the bench. Houston will eventually have a solid bench. The real issue is: McGrady likes to shoot quick perimeter shots -- on the break, makes a reasonable percentage. Houston needs an athletic, quick PF to get down the court and rebound the missed shots. Neither Howard or Taylor is quick or athletic. Many have agreed that a quick PF would also compensate for Yao Ming's relative slow-ness and can provide rotation defense (when YM goes for blocks). Jason Williams and a re-signed Stromile Swift for Howard, Lue, and an additional player works for me. (The ideal PF for Houston would be Bosh, from Toronto.) University (#2 For 1) Blue
Wait - the Bucks signed Mike James too, and they already have TJ Ford...so why do they need Mo Williams? Is TJ For injured that badly? And why would Mo Williams sign to be a third string PG again, especially when there are so many second string jobs out there?
It seems like they are really concerned about the health of TJ Ford. I expect them to hold on to all 3 PG's untill the issue of Ford's Health is cleared up.
some of their fans are saying (on the ESPN board) that the local news doesn't know TJ's status - there are reports of him returning this summer or sitting out the entire year (depending on his back) I guess my question would be why not bring back Jones then ? in either case, they are keeping 3 PGs
The Rockets PF position is fine. And I don't know what the point of this thread was, it has nothing to do with the Rockets. I just wish the Rockets would get a PG to keep meaningless threads like this from popping up other day.
