If you combined Chas and Diaz into 1 player- and their PA are about right for that to make sense (close enough- they’d have the same amount of PA as Bregman) they’d have a 265 average, 294 OBP, 485 slug, 779 ops with 16 HR, 44 rbi, 38 runs, playing 2 of the most important 3 positions on the field. That’s an all star position player that’s just sat on the bench, right?
Chazzy Fizz is a clutch guy and that's invaluable. He's also a top 10-15 defensive guy, although not at the level of Jake defensively. Diaz is just starting to get his feet wet. He's a born hitter and plays a premium position. I'm not sure I would trade him straight up for Robert or Cease. I think he's going to be a star level player and the transition to new star level players that will keep this dynasty in tact for another 5 years or so, maybe even longer. That's how good of a job Luhnow did building this dynasty and the shrewed move made by Click to add to what already existed. Gotta keep drafting well though to keep the dynasty going. Gilbert and Melton is a good start. Gotta add some more young pitching in the minors though.
Happy for him. He hasn't been great defensively this season, and he hit a bit of a slump there for a while. But he's come on hot as of late. As of the latest stats, he's 5th among AL outfielders in OPS, 3rd in RBI and 6th in SB.
Are these guys not being properly managed in terms of strength and flexibility?- this is god damn fvcking ridiculous.
This is surprisingly turning out to be one of the bigger years for rookie impact in the last few years. 4 rookies making an impact, probably none will win rookie of the year but collectively they’ve been huge.
Not sure why yall haven't figured this out by now, but the Stros do not give out injury news lightly, hence the constant use of the word "discomfort". Once you have to put someone on the IL, you have to be more forthright. They feel it might give the opponent an advantage to know what exactly is hurt on a player, which isn't a crazy thought. This is also what used to made Chandler Rome go apoplectic, because he felt he needed to know everything.
When we play the rangers at the end of July we need to be in first place. We are two back now. We have: 4 home- Mariners 9 away- 2 Colorado, 3 Angels (No Trout or Rendon and maybe Ohtani gimped) 4 Oakland. Texas has: 4 away: 1 Boston, 3 Washington 9 Home- 3 each Tampa, Cleveland and the Dodgers Call it 6-7 for them and 9-4 for us. That would put us 1 up going into the home series against them, hopefully with Yordan, Altuve, Urquidy and Javier all healthy and ready to go. That would be pretty remarkable
Don't look now, but the Astros are the hottest team in the AL. Every other team has basically been playing .500 ball for the last 2 weeks. And I'd just like to toot my own horn here for a moment.....the Astros were 6-12 leading up to Game 2 against the Cards. Since I made the roadie to Saint Louis to see Game 2, we're 7-1.
Same staff as last year and they were extremely healthy. So probably just some bad luck, don't you think? Or it's just better to find a scapegoat.
