Worst case scenario, we sub him in for FVV and he helps guide the tank.

If he was a FA he’d probably be cheap. I’d take the risk on a one or two year deal w a TO. This would be the last “best” option to fill the remaining cap space we have. Risk wouldn’t be that high. Reward could be huge. Worst case, Fertita pays the guy to sit at home.

But alas he’s under contract for the next two years for 40+. Now that is an absurd suggestion to take that on.

Call me crazy (because I am) but I would be down to get Ben Simmons. He is still a great defender and beast on the boards.

Ben Simmons would be a steal. He shoots better than Amen and has a higher fg% than FVV. Let’s face the facts, with absolutely no shooters on this team our only hope is to have an unbelievable defense and there is no better defender in basketball than Ben Simmons. With FVV, Jabrari,Brooks, and Simmons we win each game 82-76.

And therein lies the other shoe for me. Let's say he was legitimately injured, specifically the back injury that kicked of the whole hold out on the Sixers and eventually shut him down for the Nets the following season. With back injuries being potentially lethal for players whose games are wholly based on athleticism, why would we want someone like that on the team? Even more so if we add on to the fact that accusations of his poor work ethic and attitude started before said back injury. This is assuming that BS was not full of BS. People need to stop fantasizing what BS could be and open their eyes to what he has been; trouble that's not worth it.

I distinctively remember years ago half the fans on this board wanted Ben Simmons.

Either those fans have changed their minds for the better or they're no longer on this board, hopefully.

If you don't have a jumper, you don't belong in the league. I don't know how many shots Ben puts up during workouts but I doubt it's more than a casual at your local life time fitness gym.

Honestly what the Rockets should have done with their cap room is take on Ben Simmons and get a pick or two back for our services.

Yes they needed to sign a FVV type of player but honestly this team is just not ready yet to compete. Jalen, Jabari, Amen, etc. just aren’t likely ready to take that jump yet. The Rockets needed to be focused on continuing to build assets but no… instead Stone acted like a guy who is desperate to save his job trying to make the damn play in. Totally looking like amateur hour David Kahn type of crap.

We NEED more assets and picks. Not to be giving away young talent and picks for the hopes and dreams of signing a non star player in his mid 30’s. I don’t give a care about Ben Simmons. I think he’s pretty much done in the NBA and a broken player, but I loved what he resembled in terms of a target for our cap room. The fact is I think we need MORE assets. Not less.
