    Just realized the obvious...

The reason we had to do crazy Brooks deal was because Jalen gives us so little on defense.

If he could just be average on defense we wouldn't need a defensive stopper to take the harder assignments from him.

You say these are "known facts." Based on what? Did you personally speak to people around FVV or Brooks, or are you basing it solely on random, notoriously unreliable media reports?

Also, I'm confused by your F grade because if your statement about FVV seeking 2 years, $80 million is in fact true, that's essentially what he got. And if the Rockets could have "easily" gotten Brooks for $20 million less, don't you think it would have happened?

Good lord, this post is ridiculous. “Verified reports” do negotiating now, huh?

Brooks slots in as Houston’s primary ball-stopper from this point onward. Udoka is probably already cooking up aggressive coverages as we speak. Antics aside, Brooks didn’t waltz into an All-Defense selection last season — he snatched it, a theme we’ll see routinely for the foreseeable future. We’re talking about a switchable, sturdy wing who is going to annoy you like Patrick Beverley and Marcus Smart, has the upper body strength of a prime P.J. Tucker and the hands and footwork of a top cornerback. Brooks’ new deal comes with incentives and bonuses, according to league sources.

Garuba isn't the first player from his draft teams gave up on. Keon Johnson was salary filler for Norman Powell.

    He has been awful.

More than half of the picks from 20-30 are off their teams within 4 years.

It's only a big deal if they develop later into something. If they never do anything then you did good to cut and run sooner...

Stone will be judged for it later.

That's good news. I was waiting for something like this. I had to think there was more to that deal given their propensity for adding little wrinkles like this into contracts.

Weird. Iko was the one who said it was fully guaranteed.

He is going to be beat out by a combination of Eason and KPJ.

I hope it's minutes played incentives and to earn time on the court he has to play Ime's way and move the ball around, stop taking so many bad shots.

I think all 3 can play together. Green could possibly be the odd man out at times because his defense is atrocious. KPJ at least has potentially serviceable defense that could improve with Udoka.

I'd like to see a lineup of FVV, KPJ, Brooks, Tari, and Sengun. Brooks and Tari don't demand the ball and KPJ can play off ball. Brooks has to keep the ball moving though and no dumbass shots.

Would love if they could include something like: "has to take less than 8 shots per game over the year" to get a 5 million dollar bonus.

So after calming down, the only reason I really will like this, is IF - a big IF - Udoka talked to him personally and told him to stop the dumb act, told him that his role is to play defense and play within the offense, act mature, man up. If not, expect to lose your starting role. I'd like it if he hadn't been promised a starting role, but it's ignorant to think he's not starting.

Greens defense needs work but I think with the right coach and right team mindset, he will get better.. that being said, you never want your nest scorer to guard the other teams best scorer. You maybe can do that for a few possessions or to close the game out but you don't want to do that if you can help it.

    Quite a sht take.
We didn't do this crazy deal bc of or solely bc of Jalen green. The team was weak at defense already, solely blaming green for this sht contract just shows how much bias u have against him.

Kobe and Jordan would never say that...

Green has more of the Harden gene than them I suppose...

Jordan was the 3rd best defensive player on the 95-98 Bulls, and the 2nd best on the 91-94 Bulls.
Kobe is the most overrated defensive player of all time, the Derek Jeter of basketball.

Besides, you can't rely on your best player to go 1 on 1 with the opposing best player all the time anyway, Hakeem is at worst the 2nd best defensive player of all time, but you still had Mad Max to cover guards.
