I just saw the Manchurian Candidate and although I thought it was a great movie I was sickened by seeing Oprah's "best friend" Gayle something acting as a news reporter. Who else other that Gayle and Ben Affleck would not be famous if it wasn't for their relationship with a celebrity?
Don't hate on Ben! He's had enough poo flung on him. He needs a break. Gayle and Paris Hilton need to be told about a new reality show set in a bunker. When they get there, you shove them in, give 'em 5 years food and water, and tell them hidden cameras are everywhere. That's it. No more of their sh** for five years. After that, maybe they'll stop grasping for a limelight they don't possibly deserve. You can throw Ashlee Simpson in there, too.
I really don't know why. I've never thought he was that bad. Not good, either. Hmmmmm. You're right. To hell with him. He's on the "Show" too.
I'm not a huge fan of Ben either, but who did he gravytrain on? I always think of Jeremy Piven gravytraining on John Cusack.
I believe he's talking about Matt Damon. But I thought Good Will Hunting was written by both of them.
affleck was a child actor before he met Damon, he was working in films, namely Dazed and Confused, before Damon. If anything, its Damon who is riding Affleck's coattails, although they did star in School ties together in 92, their stars rose equally regardless of the other. from imdb.com "Ben wanted to be an actor ever since he could remember and his first acting experience was for a Burger King commercial, when he was *very* young. At 8 years old Ben was given his first steady acting job on the PBS mini-series "Voyage of the Mimi, The" (1984). It was also at that age when Ben met his lifelong friend and fellow actor, Matt Damon. They played little league together and took drama classes together. Ben's teen years consisted of mainly TV movies and small television appearances including Hands of a Stranger (1987) (TV) and "Second Voyage of the Mimi, The" (1988). He made his big introduction into feature films in 1993 when he was cast in Dazed and Confused (1993)." "Matt's first film role was a one-line part in Mystic Pizza (1988). Hollywood's powerbrokers realized his potential as a serious actor when they saw him play a Gulf War vet-turned-heroin addict in Courage Under Fire (1996). One of Matt's closest childhood friends was fellow young thespian Ben Affleck, who starred in Chasing Amy (1997). Damon and Affleck collaborated on the screenplay for Good Will Hunting (1997), in which they co-star."
I guess because I'm such a big fan of Dazed and Confused (which came out before Matt really did anything), I never stopped to think that people might think Affleck gravytrained on Damon. I don't think either one is a particularly standout actor--nor do I think either of them are bad--but I definitely think Damon has picked some MUCH better roles.
Rebecca Pigeon. I never see her in anything her husband hasn't directed (and was actually surprised when I rented Spartan to not see her in it).
I thought Affleck's "Bannion" character in Dazed and Confused was the best job he ever did. He seemed like a natural playing a ****.
To Ben Affleck's credit he did co-write Good Will Hunting with Matt Damon, so he did create his own success. However, I don't know why he keeps getting lead roles because he can't act.
Sorry, I was just making a joke at these "initial writing for typing's sake" thingie's getting longer and longer in the tooth. BTW, any idea what I'm saying there?
Gotta go with Ashlee Simpson. After the success of her sister's reality show, Ashlee gets her own show, in which it is revealed that she can't sing worth a crap. Then, her album gets released, and it goes to number one on the charts.
