I think there's a always a role on contenders for defensive pests, but we aren't one of those. And from chatter around the league it wasn't clear that he had other offers. It will be fun to watch the Brooks saga unfold.
I can tell you that with KPJ and now Dillon Brooks, the Rockets have reached their limit of players whose previous teams couldn't wait to unload. We are dangerously close to becoming the Bad News Rockets.
The Dillon brooks contract is not good. The other contracts are fine. The point is that we didn’t get anything for our non-core assets, blew our cap space, and didn’t get much better. This is still a bad team. We should have had a much better plan B for Lopez and we clearly didn’t. Also clear…Stone can’t manage assets to save his life. Amateur.
Dillon Dillon Brooks is brought to tame KPJ. Lol I hope. It playing with Dillon makes KPJ play defense then watch out. They must be seeing something to still keep him on roster.
. As much as I dump on KPJ, he's just one light-bulb-in-the-head moment away from becoming a force that other teams will have to deal with. I'm just not convinced that moment will ever come.
I just can't wrap my head around the Brooks contract. The other moves? Some I can get genuinely excited about, Freddy especially, and some I can shrug and say, "We'll see." There are one or two moves, especially Garuba, that I think we'll later view as a serious blunder by Stone, in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen a strong bid for Reaves. I heard nothing about Stone attempting that and we had the ability to hammer the offer from the Lakers. This place would have been crazy had we pulled that off. I haven't seen a backup plan for losing Lopez, which was always a bit of a stretch, the guy leaving a contender for the Rockets. Brooks? I simply don't get the dollars, I don't get the length, I don't get the lack of a team option(s). I don't get the signing at all, and again, who were we bidding against?
I totally agree about Brooks. The only thing I can think of is that Ime wants to bring in a total dawg to try to harden (no pun intended) the soft young core guys. As for Garuba, I don't envision him ever being more than a marginal rotation guy for a bad team - like he was last year.
Just to add. Second round picks you can argue to be better than late first round picks which are guaranteed money. None of the young guys we lost where worth any high first round type lottery pick.
Ah but u forget we didn't sign James Harden. With all these "not that bad contracts", compared to signing harden I rather take harden any day. Imagine doing all this signing to still b a bad team.
Thanks to Elon. I have no idea what's happened post the Dillon Brooks signing. Can someone break everything down from the top and what the contract details are? FVV not fully garunteed? Brooks contract is front loaded? JayGup gone?
