Nah. Check out the contracts for Bane, Harrison Barnes, and Jerami Grant. I’m not confident, but we may look back at Dillon’s 20m and say what a bargain
this is what i'm hoping...who knows, maybe this is pj tucker part two! i honestly haven't watched much at all, just heard about him in the news. we need a dawg next to jalen and alpi, we have enough offense. hoping he can work on that corner 3 and play small ball five?
People the Rockets only won 22 games because they needed to for them to be the worst team in the league. It's like people don't know what tanking means lol. They're better than a 30 win team currently constructed. They played well last season when they actually tried to win games. Even against the top teams. As long they focus on defense and build great chemistry then they have a chance to be much better than last season.
Worst offseason ever. We squandered our cap room and only got slightly better. We also squandered all of our non-core assets. And the $80 mil fully guaranteed for Dillon Brooks is a d#ck punch. Incompetence at a high level.
You obviously are clueless about cap room. It is not squandered we can make room for another Max player next year and 2 the year after.
I'll be fine with everything once they announce Brooks is only 1 year guaranteed Until then.... until then
We had $65 mil and FVV was the only guy we got that moves the needle. And then we locked ourselves into 4 yrs and $80 mil of Dillon Brooks. Yes we squandered our cap room.
Tough to say they squandered it completely. They still have KPJ and Tate on incredibly team-friendly deals that they could get rid of in a heartbeat if they want to make room. Also, FVV's third-year being a team option essentially makes him an expiring contract as early as next summer. Really the only potentially bad signing they made was Brooks, and we still don't have the full details of that contract yet. Aside from the Brooks deal, I'm still bummed about the dump of TyTy and Garuba and having to give up picks to move them; that felt unnecessary to me, and I never felt like they got a fair shake. But they got fair value for KJ (who was going to be gone anyway), and I don't think Christopher had much value at all.
I think their bench just got significantly better. This will be a deeper, more experienced team next season, which is a win. Are they a playoff team? Still pretty unlikely. But this is a better basketball team that's built to be competitive, which is really all we could have asked for going into next season. I get the disappointment (particularly with the Brooks deal), but when I look at the roster as a whole with what's left, it's hard for me to say it's not a significant improvement on paper.
