Would love to add Lane Thomas from the Nationals to shore up our OF. Dude is crushing the ball right now and plays great defense. Probably not CF material but he can play the position. McCormick's got oppo power though and that's huge in the playoffs. Might be insurance for a scenario where Brantley isn't ready.
Go get Stroman. He has been destiny written all over him. Also float a offer of Chas, Whitley, Gilbert, Lee and Blanco to the White Sox for Luis Robert's and Keynan Middleton.
Giolito and Cease both had great month of June's for the Sox. Lynn had another miserable month. Is he done, or defeated by a terrible team? Either way he would not be someone I want on this team. I'm still not convinced the team needs a bat. They just need Yordan and Brantley healthy and Dusty playing the hitters most likely to produce in any given day. But it is more and more obvious they need pitching and the rotation is a mess. Chicago love Cuban players, and have a drastic need for a 2B and a RF who can catch the ball and cover CF when Robert has his next injury. They are also losing 3/5 of their starting rotation. Trade Pedro Leon for Lucas Giolito. Since his price will be sky high, throw in a mid-level SP prospect like Jayden Murray, Misael Tamarez, or Shawn Dubin. Even Forrest Whitley if they want him.
I know that is likely true, but it's equally possible that Chicago simply wasn't selling period before July. It's my own prejudices. I just can't see giving up more than 2 prospects in the 6-15 range for a rental. Still, Leon as a big part of that deal makes tons of sense for both teams. But it doesn't really make sense for the White Sox to take 2 OF unless they see Leon as a 2B or util. The Astros are desperate and there will be many teams after the few impact rental players who are expected to be available. I would offer Melton, as I like him less than Gilbert, Clifford, or Barber and it feels like his value is high. Does Kessinger have any value? He has big family/baseball ties to Chicago? Maybe Melton, Kessinger, and Murray? Or am I going backward? I actually would offer Melton or Leon plus any 2 from: Kessinger, Joe Perez, Shay Whitcomb, Will Wagner, J.J. Matijevic, Kenedy Corona, Quincy Hamilton, Justin Dirden, and any minor league pitchers except Colton and Arrighetti. That's a lot to sort through, but the White Sox want to compete next year. They are short on middle infielders, starting pitching, and defense. What do you guys think? Giolito will be traded. Its simply what will the market give for him.
Splash trade: Blake Snell and Josh Hader for J.P. France, Blake Taylor, Jacob Melton, Pedro Leon, and Joe Perez.
I think you are overrating our system/players and are way low on what the cost for Giolito will be. My guess is Giolito would cost something like Gordon, Corona, and Knorr. That's also only if the White Sox like those guys. Astros gave up Wilyer Abreu and Emmanuel Valdez for Christian Vazquez. The price for Giolito will be significantly more than that, and the Astros giving up two of their top 6-15 prospects is A LOT different than the Orioles or another team with a stacked system.
I'm prepared to give up Gilbert for Dylan Cease. Framber Cease Javier Brown Next year Framber Cease McCullers Javier Brown
I would do that deal. I like all 3 of those guys, especially Gordon, but they are ranked much lower than some of the guys I mentioned. Gordon #8, Corona #18, Knorr #25. The best offer I suggested is Melton #2, Miguel Ullola #10, Wagner #12.
I have no idea how similar it actually is.. but I was ready to give up Tucker for Quintano, or Gray a couple years ago.. back when Tucker and Whitley were “untouchable” so what do I know.
Dubon still has 3 years of control left How crazy would it be to make him the starting SS and trade Pena to Chicago for Cease? With prospects going one way or the other to even out the value, of course.
Counting on Brantley after missing a year of real baseball time is fools gold. IMHO Go get another bat and anything Brantley gives you is a bonus. I like your idea of Leon, plus for Giolito. Also need to add a bullpen arm. I really wanted Chapman, I wonder if Drellich, Footer etc... are going to give the Rangers crap for bringing in Chapman like they gave Luhnow crap for bringing in Osuna?
Seems like fantasy baseball to me. I would do this deal. Add Graveman to the list and I would give up Leon and Ullola for Graveman. Gordon/Ullola/Knorr/Corona/Leon for Giolito /Graveman. Does this seem like a fair trade to you?
Good lord dude. Dubon has had 80 games of alright baseball after a year of us screaming at dusty for even having him in sniff the field from the dugout and now you want to trade the reigning WS MVP because we have him? Jesus Christ man.
I'm just brainstorming. Pena is a very valuable player and has done great things for this team. But he is not perfect and doesn't ever look to be an MVP candidate. He's not the kind of players teams refuse to trade. I dont want the team to trade him but am not opposed to it if it helps the team overall. This team has many holes and few impact assets that can fill those holes. By having Dubon on this roster, 2B or SS are the positions that can be filled without much of a hit. In fact, Dubon has out performed Pena so far this year. Altuve is not tradeable, Pena is. Pena's potential, years of control and high floor make him very valuable as a trade piece and sliding Dubon into his position keeps from creating a hole to fill another.
The Royals don’t value prospects like the commercial industry does. The got an arm that they really like and a young prospect they think has ability.
