Astros avoid the sweep.. and win the biggest mismatch on paper. Great win. Comeback too. Decent pitching from the starter, bullpen was nails, and timely hitting Tonight Houston will attempt to avoid losing the series. Rangers can still be swept, tie, or win the series
I'm kind of thinking maybe Crane went to Dana Brown and told him "you gotta kinda help Dusty along.."
Julks is hitting 35 points higher in BA than Meyers. Has more steals, runs, RBIs. LOL. You know...this is where analytics alone won't win you games. If someone is hit .265 vs .228, I'm playing the .265 guy unless he is hack in the field (which Julks is not).
It is the same as with Diaz. He struggled when he didn’t get consistent playing time. Myers is a better player than Julks. Myers and McCormick need to be assured they are in the starting line-up most every day and they will far surpass Julks in OBA and OPS and are better defensively. SB’s are great, but unless he improves his OBA (which he has recently) Julks is a 4th OF at best.
Of course Dusty is sitting McCormick for Julks today. I guess an all-star catch and 2 big hits doesn’t get him 2 days in a row. Dusty is a mean SOB.
Chas and Meyers should be in the lineup everyday because they are better defenders. Julks has produced like a 4th OF overall for the season, but he's showing improved plate discipline for about a month. I want to see more, but I wouldn't have to firm an idea on how good Julks's bat will be going forward.
But BA is a flawed (or at least incomplete) stat. Julks has 225 plate appearances and Meyers 220. 53 of Julks PA have resulted in him on 1st by 1B, BB, or HBP. 52 of Meyers have had the same result. 10 of Julks have been 2B 11 of Meyers have been 2B Meyers has 1 3B. Julks has 0 Both Julks and Meyers have 6 HR. So Meyers has been on base 1 additional time and has 2 additional extra base hits, 1 2B and 1 3B in 5 less PA. Give me the guy with .227 BA eventhough it's very close. And I will stand by my point that this is Julks ceiling but Meyers has underachieved
No Framber tomorrow. Sprained ankle in his last start and it got worse. Apparently they still don't know who's starting tomorrow.
