I heard on Bob Kemp on the NBA Grapevine last night (this morning) that it has been rumored that the Detriot Pistons might offer Maurice Taylor the maximum salary to play for them because of their PF woes . Don't have info or anything to back this up , And I haven't heard/seen aything else since. ------------------ Reactions after The Rockets got Eddie Griffin for 3 draft picks "Eddie For 3 ... Yes!!! O Mother!!!!!!!"
I'm no cap expert, but from what I can see on Realgm Detroit has about $5 million under the cap to spend. Probably about what the Rox will offer him. ------------------
I was thinking that as well. Cap experts? Care to weigh in on this one? ------------------ Who's your buddy? Who's your pal? I am, aren't I?
Bob Kemp never gets anything right, they just signed Williamson to a 33mil contract. They have no max to offer. ------------------ "banging Shaq is a whole different expirience"-Pete Babcock Behold the power of quotation
Ben Wallace at the 5 Mo Taylor at the 4 Rodney White at the 3 Clifford Robinson off the bench... That might be a pretty good front court. Dream is gonna screw us for sure. Mo could have already been signed sealed and delivered. Does anyone think he would not take a deal with Det if he were being offered 3 or 4 mil more a season than Houston is will or can pay? ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited July 24, 2001).]
I'm getting sick and tired of this bullcrap with Hakeem. He better not tear this team apart just to stroke his ego and get more money. ------------------ "Instruments are like women: After a while, you want to make love to another." - Nicolas Godin of the musical duo Air [This message has been edited by RocksMillenium (edited July 24, 2001).]
I am starting to think that there is no way Dream can help out the Rockets this year. If he resigns and it costs Bull a roster spot and forces Mo and Mooch to settle for lower contracts or play else where then how is Dream going to be percieved by his fellow players. At what point does Dreams actions going all the way back to last January start pissing the other players off until they simply don't want to play with him any more? ------------------
I agree completely crash. What happens if Dream's asking for more money costs the team Bull, Mooch, Shandon and Mo? How is Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley going to react? Losing those players and setting back the rebuilding process could indirectly cause Cat and Francis to consider leaving after their contracts are up. It may seem like an outside possibility now, but losing your talented, young PF in Mo, your lockerroom captain in Bull, the energetic Mooch and of course defensive stopper in Shandon Anderson will cost this team a playoff spot next year, all to reward Dream over and over again. ------------------ "Instruments are like women: After a while, you want to make love to another." - Nicolas Godin of the musical duo Air
you guys are sad...Hakeem has to make his choice and he can take as long as he wants to...it's not as if he told the rockets not to sign any of their players...if MO leaves then it's the rockets fault not Hakeems...remember playing is a job to him...and his agent is trying to make the most money he can for himself and Hakeem...that's part of life...all this loyalty stuff is crap...he owes Houston nothing...he's done more than his fair share...and you guyz can't let him make a decision of where he wants to go...you should be happy what hakeem has already done for houston...does anyne remember the two titles he brought to this town...well keep remembering them cause it's going to be a long time before another one is seen again... ------------------ <<..........>>
Does anybody have any more info on the press conference rumor Thursday? Can our other FA's last until then? If Hakeem cost us any of our FA's, then he should be shot!!!! If Hakeem does not make a decision by the weekend, he should be shot!!! I am still wondering how Anderson & Mooch are going to play out. Everybody thinks that Anderson will play for 3 million, and Mooch under 1 million. But this is FEAGAN we are talking about, and Shandon opt out of making something like 4 million next year. So why would he settle for less? Why would Mooch take the scraps, if he was offered the 4.5 million from Dallas? Hakeem is acting like a nightmare, not a Dream!!!!!! ------------------
In a sense, you're right, it will be the Rockets fault...since they failed to just renounce Hakeem so they can sign other FAs. The Rockets cannot sign anyone until the situation with Hakeem is resolved one way or the other. The Rockets seem eager to sign all of their FAs but the talks with Hakeem is holding everything up. If this goes on much longer we may lose one of those FAs. Williamson just signed for a bit less than Taylor should expect so I doubt the Pistons are pursuing more PFs. ------------------
We could just renounce him, but then we lose the sign and trade possibilities. However, we could then start signing our other free agents. DaDakota ------------------ If you like RTS games, check out this one. www.frontierwars.com coming soon to a PC near you.
They need to S$T or renounce Dream quick, or Mooch will go to Dallas, Mo will go to Detroit, and Shandon will go to Atlanta for the exception ------------------ __ Ñ _ _ _ /_ ______ _ \ ÝÝÝÝl____| * |___ lÝÝÝÝ ¡,.-ñý¯Çi ¡,.-ñ~ñ~ñ-.,¡ `¯ýñ-.,
Just to reiterate what has been said by posters before me, it will NOT be Hakeem's fault if we lose anybody because we are waiting on him. Its Dream's right to take as long as he wants/needs to make up his mind about where he wants to play, if the Rockets screw around waiting on him and Mo goes to Detroit or Moochie to the Mavs, point the finger at CD and Rudy T because they are the ones making the decisions. ------------------
If Hakeem asks for an amount that would not allow us to resign Taylor and at least Norris then he would not be signed. ------------------ "banging Shaq is a whole different expirience"-Pete Babcock Behold the power of quotation
Oh, I would hate to think of where this team would be without Matt Bullard. Lottery 2002! ------------------ Protrolls.com! Keep the ???? alive! The ZRBucks!
Excuse me guys, I didn't realize Detroit had "PF woes".. They signed Williamson, so no MAX..They signed two Centers and they have Mikki Moore. Ben Wallace, Clifford Robinson, Rodney White.....heck, even Corliss Williamson is a PF in the West, so where are they "woed"? What THEY need, is to get a PG. I really don't see what Matt Bullard can do that Walt and/or Langhi can't do...Losing SHandon wouldn't be a big hit either..... The only ppl I'd like to see re-signed are Hakeem, Mo, and Moochie. Let Shandon and Bullard go. Shandon's too expensive to come off the bench, and Bullard won't find any time, we need to give Langhi some minutes. For 16million, i think we can sign them. Something like 6M for Mo, 2.5M for Moochie, and 7.5M for Hakeem (that's what it's gonna come to).... ------------------
Another garbage post from ZRB, clearly displaying that he has no clue how the salary cap works. Way to go dude! ------------------ So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Sane, according to some, Mo Taylor can handle the ball like a guard and is a playmaker. I'm sure he could handle the PG duties for Detroit. It's not like they would miss him inside or anything. ------------------ First the Sopranos and now Eddie Griffin... thank you New Jersey!
Sane, Agree. However, I'm for an S&T for SA so we can hopefully reap some value, especially if it could be combined with a Cato or Wiz exit. We should be able to get Bull for $1M, if not then Hakeem, Mo and Mooch should be how we invest. Key to signing any of our FAs is for us to do it in a sane fashion...I don't want to overpay for any of them and end up with another Cato, Maloney albatross contract. ------------------
