Is Conley available for any reasonable price? If we can get him for a couple second rounders or whatever, sure, fine, no problem with it. But if Minny wants real assets, which they may, those assets are probably worth more than the cap space savings.

I already said I can tolerate Fred, it is just not worth it IMO.......especially after the disappointing year that he had.

The focus is to have a baby sitter and not play Fred 30 minutes a game.

Just do not lose focus, that is all.

Does not make sense to pay someone 40 m and play him 20 minutes a game but what do I know.

The problem is do not get distracted.

I could not care less about Fertitta and him threatening the team to win now.

Who do you think fvv is stealing those 30 mpg from?

It won’t be from Jalen green. It won’t be from Amen Thompson. It’s won’t be from Jabari smith. It won’t be from Sengun. Those are the 4 that matter development wise.

Trading those players for old win now players would be selling our soul. We are not losing any of them. We are using cap to sign guys and in two years we will get that money back to spend again, nothing was lost!

Just split those 60 into 20-20-20 not exactly that but in that direction.

They will get vets.....the focus is on veteran players, not some slightly bigger names who would accomplish the same thing for 40 while others could do it for 15 or 20 million.

Again this is nothing much against Van Vleet than it is just conundrum, a maze, a puzzle.

Van Vleet is just a mercenary who goes where the money is, so I do not blame it, just those who were behind it.

Why do you care about the money so much... Where is the damage being done?

If FVV/Lopez are the guys our FO/Ime wants around for the next 2 years... We only need a couple of key vets that we love, not 6

Lol... the money nobody cares about.

But obviously it has a butterfly effect other than a rice sack falling over in Asia.

Lopez is different than VV......Lopez can play 20 minutes and a 29 year guy is different than a 35 year old Lopez.

There is no damage done on a basketball forum other than words flying and being tipped.

    Keyboard warriers.

Dude I get what they want to do but they are doing the same shet all over again.

Go whine to the press about internal growth and then pay some mercenary 40 million.

The same hypocritical ish again and again.

    Let me add to that.

It is the aftermath that I could envision when it does not work out.

Then the Rockets would whine about those 40 million .... we already had that with Chris Paul.

A lot more whining to come. It is very much the same Deja vu that fans forget because of their short term memory.

At least the last two in their prime were box office must see, especially AI3 when you add in domestic and international jersey and ticket sales/tv games etc

But I feel ya, really no player in the league is worth 40$ mill. annually especially if non franchise players like VanFleet can get that type of bag$

Except fvv is a great fit next to Green and Amen, he can run the show while Amen gets his bearings, and when Amen is ready Fvv can get out of the way and play off ball like he did next to Lowry and Kawhi. He doesn’t stunt anyone’s growth.

If it doesn’t work out then we have a 40m expiring contract next year. It is nothing like cp who had multiple years left.

I kinda disagree with this. 20/20/20 that takes minutes from all kinds of different positions.

plus if green/jabari/eason/sengun are better (they better damn well all improve to some degree) then you take the coaching should be at some level an improvement.

then lastly as good as KPJ is with some things he 100% hurt the team last year playing a position he simply can not play, it hurt KPJ playing with a ton of children as well. Those 2 things and all the above exacerbate each other.

FVV is not a great player by any means but what he does well mostly fits quite well. I sure the hell hope FVV/Amen is > to KPJ/Nix if it's not then the rox are in trouble. the other weakness on the team is defense especially rim defense. so of course lopez is the best option, i guess brooks being the next best. total though that would address the rockets 2 biggest weakness with contracts that are short with money that needs to be spent. trading is an option as well but this doesnt give up team assets before they are truly ready to win anything but still improves the team.

what you stated is an option as well and overall it may not even make that much of a difference because any decent professional vets along with all of the youth improving and better coaching should help escape whatever the hell i watched the last 3 seasons.

    No problem, man.

I just added to that, it was not only those 40 million but as Fertitta did in the Chris Paul scenario.

He whined so much about the 40 million, seeing an owner that way was not pretty.

I changed my mind a little, you know what.

40 million for a freak show, it is entertainment, why not.

I want to see Titty‘s face when his Phase 2 turns into a Phase 1.5.....Phase 1.01111

Maybe Jalen and Bari would do some barking at Fred Van Vleet. Throw in some of that.

Udoka going to women for comfort.

With the bottom line being money needs to be spent in the short term, I cannot think of a single negative to a two year FVV deal.

A competent and level-headed player is brought in to run the point plus nurture the young guards.

KPJ is removed from the point.

It does not hinder the team's financial position in the years we want that money to compete.
