Clippers would be the most interesting scenario. But we'd be lucky to have 2 of the 3 healthy throughout whatever playoff run they make.
What contending team is going to send a superstar or a “ransom” to Philly though? First, no one is trading a superstar for Harden. So we can cross that off the list completely. So what is this “ransom” that other teams have where harden would want to go that Houston doesn’t have?
I think today's move increases the odds that Harden could end up in Houston. I think FVV is the favorite, but a one year deal with Harden at that cap figure is a realistic option all of a sudden.
Biggest pipe dream in the world - but name another place he has the potential to win a chip? I just don’t see it. The clippers are already gambling on health. Why not throw some Mountain Dew on that crack rock and make it extreme
On one hand Harden would be like a kid in a candy store with all the dancers with BBLs in Miami. On the other hand the Heat have a body fat percentage rule.
I've been staunchly against signing Harden. Now since it's a 1 year deal on 35M, I think it's a good one. Just hope the FO aren't dumb enough to give up any of our young core and draft assets to get him.
[Wojnarowski] James Harden has likely played his last game in Philadelphia... this was essentially James Harden looking into free agency and not seeing the type of long-term commitment he wanted from the Sixers and perhaps the Rockets... the most prominent team out there are the Los Angeles Clippers
[CBS] Why the Sixers are lucky to be getting out of the James Harden business Harden is simply not a championship player. You can throw all the tracking stats you want around: his pick-and-roll efficiency with Joel Embiid, his ability to get into the paint and draw fouls (which isn't near the level it once was but remains a viable skill), his league-high assist percentage (44 percent of Philly's buckets last season came via a Harden pass, per Cleaning the Glass), his 122.7 points per 100 shot attempts -- seventh among all point guards and basically equal to Luka Doncic, per CTG. His 45 points in Game 1 against the Celtics. His 42 points and nine assists in Game 4 of the same series. All of it is noted, and all of it adds up to the same thing: A second-round loss. When the Sixers needed just one more win to eliminate Boston and advance to the first conference finals of the Embiid era, Harden scored 22 combined in Games 6 and 7 on a 26% shooting clip that included a 1-of-11 mark from 3. In Game 7, he made three shots. Total. Finished with nine points and five turnovers. Harden, for reasons of both extreme disinterest and lacking lateral ability, remains a detrimental defender, and no matter how many of his step-back 3s are going in over a given stretch, they are not going to go in when you need them to. If you believe differently at this point, you either haven't been watching or you're willfully ignorant. I don't think Daryl Morey, for all his Harden affection, is ignorant. He knows Harden, who is about to head to his third different team in search of a title run he's never even come close to making, just isn't a dependable championship-level player at this point, if he ever was even in his prime. There are a lot of teams right now trying desperately to hang onto an aging core: The Clippers, Warriors, Lakers and Bucks all come to mind. But three of those teams are doing so with stars who's proven they can win you a title. The other is the Clippers, who apparently think Harden is the get-over-the-hump piece. The Sixers once thought the same thing, and perhaps on some level still do. But they have enough sense to not throw a full bag at him, and that little out that they gave themselves appears to be enough for Harden to make the decision to cut ties for them. Breathe easy, Philly fans. You got off easy.
What if we bring in Harden and Green backs him up? So that Green can "prove his work ethic" and "attempt to become a decent defender"? (just applying the Sengun hater logic here)
I think we all know harden sucks. Some of us are in denial because of great memories. His days are over as a allstar, it's sad, anyways it won't be a big 3 in clipperland, more like PG and a washed harden and a washed kawhi. We will be better than the clippers this yr even if they have harden, vanvleet>harden
I can see why James would like Miami but under Spo' and "Heat culture"? Seems kinda like oil and water. Would be funny though just to watch the mix between "Philadelphia" James and "Tomball" Jimmy! (Who's got that popcorn eatin' gif?)
