Can't have the interactions you covet unless it's a new thread.. Do you bruh, **** the critics... To answer your question .. well questions .. It's almost as valuable to have a symbol of what not to do around you as it is what to do..
This is a classic ClutchFans moment where everyone hates the signing but switches stances 5 games in when he’s the cog on defense. He will have his antics but is the type of player these young cats have never played with. Udoka knows what he’s doing. The signing probably works based on my history of evaluating ClutchFans overreactions.
Now it all makes sense. Now I know why they want FVV. Now I know why they drafted Amen. It's all coming together.
Nah this deserves a hundred more threads. F Brooks. That's a huge red mark against the FO if they sign him day one. Leave him in FA for a month and let him sweat a bit at least. No one wants this guy.
Yeah he's so good he makes the other team's defense look good too. I like the defensive specialists like Tucker or Battier who just stand in the corner and wait for open shots. Not wannabe Kobes who take 15 shots a game including stepback 3s that have no chance of going in. What's the point of a defensive specialist the rains bricks down all game?
Kuzma > Brooks The crowded 3 position Van Fleet will push KPJ minutes to the 3 position: 1. KPJ pending Van Fleet signing 2. Kevin Martin Jr 3. Tari Eason 4. Jasean Tate 5. Cam Whitmore 6. Pending Brooks signing 7. Josh Chris could play here as well. Trade would have to loom.
He brought it on himself, but I think Brooks gets more hate than he deserves because of his antics and technicals on the court, and then him making an ass out of himself trying to get into LeBron's head these past playoffs. The media piled on and his team scapegoated him for the series loss. He is actually an above average 3&D player and I can recall seeing him hit some big shots in that series. The front office may value that playoff experience and the role he'd fit on the team.
Brooks is the epitome of a player that looks better than what he is on a good team. And he has had terrible seasons for quite some time now. He will look even worse on this team. Brooks sheds further light on the desperation of the rockets to bring in free agents when his league wide interest is minimal and next to nothing. For him it's the perfect scenario. get paid more than anywhere else after getting cut and get to play with a team not expected to win much. Unfortunately for the rockets not only are they overpaying him but they're not even getting that good of a player.
I don't even care about his personality and whatever. That's whatever, it's a shtick. I just hate dudes who love to jack up inefficient shots when they're not good at it. I hate Westbrook, DLo, Clarkson, Rozier, Schroder, Poole, Trevor Mann, even Cj McCollum. Guys who's shot diet is mostly made up of low efficiency shots. The guys who grew up watching Kobe and want to look cool doing those impossible turn around fade aways over 3 defenders but don't put in the insane work Kobe did to give that shot a respectable chance of going in. Dillon Brooks is worse than all of those guys cause he takes the same dumb shots but is a much much much worse offensive player than any of them. His defense is good, his attitude is annoying but whatever, but his offense is some of the worst I've ever seen in my life. I'd rather have Matisse Thybulle, who's a good defender but doesn't shoot at all than Dillon Brooks who forfeits any benefit he provides on defense on the other end.
Lopez and FVV I am totally on board with, yeah, they are older but tolerable. Dillon is just not a good fit at all but I guess they want one for each tier - Guard - Wing - Big I have the biggest problem with him, swap him for Grant Williams etc. I am good.
I think he would be a different player under Ime. I know our last memory of him is the playoff series vs LA, and that was not a good look. But maybe that was a learning exp for him and he will grow from that. Prior to that he was a good 3&D player. There were times he came through for memphis in big games. I'm willing to give it a shot as long as it's not on a overpay or long term deal. I mean at this point he would come in and immediately be our best perimeter defender. I don't think Ime would give him a major role in the offense so we would not have to worry about him chucking shots all game like that last series vs LA (they were without Ja so maybe he felt a need to try to score more). I guess we will all find out tomorrow. . . . .
