There's a difference. Webber is known as one who shys away during crunch time. However, during the course of a playoff game, he makes his impact. If you look at his career averages: Regular Season: 22.0ppg, 10.2rpg, 4.4apg, 1.51spg, 1.68bpg, 49%FG Playoffs: 21.1ppg, 9.6rpg, 4.3apg, 1.2spg, 1.4bpg, 46%FG There's no significant dropoff in any category. Stojakovic on the other hand is clueless almost the entire game, and doesn't show up in crunch time either. With Stojakovic, taking his regular season and playoff numbers from the last 5 years since the Kings have been in the playoffs (discounting his 1st year): Regular Season: 19.4ppg, 5.3rpg, 2apg, 47.5%FG, 40.5% 3ptFG Playoffs: 16.8ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.3apg, 41.3%FG, 35.2% 3ptFG There are astounding dropoffs in 3ptFG and FG percentage and also a signicant dropoff in scoring. Neither should be considered a good playoff performer, but Stojakovic has been the bigger disappointment as Webber is not known as a clutch player in the regular season either.
Neato, 3 superstars, and a star in your starting five, with very few to no role players. No thanks, I'd rather not use a system that leads to a lot of regular season wins by sheer talent and no championships by lack of united tenacity, mutual willingness for the team and gritty role players that know their roles for years (not to mention, these all are qualities JVG detests in his players), till their eventual departure, ala Mavs and Kings. I'd much rather stick with the 25yr old whose already a top 5 player, with a great feel for the game(which stands out at his age), killer instinct and set for more improvement combined with the 23yr old whose already the league's 2nd best center and also set for further improvement, surrounded with role players that know their role. At a chance to form a team with talent and mutual interest and understanding in winning as a group. I'd also like to mention, that Bibby is more of a run and gun PG that works excellently when the team runs up and down the floor on both ends. I just don't see Yao playing well in a non half court set system. And I just don't see Stojakovic staying long in a JVG ran system, based on a dominant center. As far as we know, one of his reasons to leave Sac town could've been due to playing second fiddle to Webber along with Divac's departure. And no way in hell is Yao going to be the second scoring option to a 27yr old who simply chokes in the playoffs while in a stacked team. I'd rather bring back Steve and make it his team again. On a side note, what's with all the sudden bandwagoning theory that it takes so many superstars to win? If you all haven't noticed, for quite a long while, NBA championships have been won by the formula of two superstars and role players. And if you want to say, "well times change". So far, the Pistons have been the only exception that has gone against that formula. Unless, of course, that by "win" you mean the regular season alone. If that's the case, I'll give you no argument. But, we are trying to obtain a championship, right?
Peja should force a trade to the Rockets just like TMac did. Spoon+Pike+5 future 1st round picks+cash for Peja.
This is getting ridiculous!!!! Players should just play and quit demanding trades especially players that have never won anything i.e. T-Mac, Vince C., Peja.....focus your energy and talent into making the team better on the court with your play rather than b****in and whinning about being traded. The sad thing is that GM's are pandering to these crybabies...I like Peja alot but lost much respect for him.
Peja is a play-off nut up. He would not last in Houston, where we are used to our Rockets showing some heart come playoff time. The Kings can keep him....
