Does the Rockets front office have a problem with Sengun?

I do believe Coach Ime likes Sengun. He just seen the Joker just won a Championship, running the ball through the Center. Miami was running some of their offense though BAM. Sengun is a legit offense player. Elite passer, great handles and post game. However, his defense is not good at all. I’m a BIG FAN OF SENGUN but he needs to play better defense and develop a outside shot. The true skill a player needs to be a good defender is EFFORT! Many players on this team was playing terrible defense because their was no effort. However, you cannot have layup drills against your defense. Sengun is very COMPETITIVE and there are not many Centers in the NBA right now can stop him. At 20 years old, he is being double teamed. Honestly, Silas did not like him at all, but Coach Ime knows he needs Sengun so he is getting help for him at Center. Either we need to sign Brook Lopez or Jakob Poeltl from Toronto.

Good luck playing stiff cardboard Jabari next to a stiff cardboard C.

You better have Magic, Michael, and Larry at the 1-2-3...

I think the effort bit is key. I don't think any of these young guys know what it really means to work and give effort at a championship level. They may think they do, but they don't--they've just been getting by at barely NBA levels. I'm all for bringing in ex-champs to push the youngsters--including Sengun--and model the level of effort and attention to detail that is needed. Both Dream and Jordan were assholes during practices. We're not getting anyone of that caliber in free agency, but some of the characteristics can be replicated. Just don't bring in any questionable attitude guys or spend just to spend. Personality fit is the thing.

My remarks about 'earning it' specifically refer to the new coaching staff. Just because a player is being shopped doesn't mean they haven't earned it or shouldn't be considered for playing time under the new coaching staff. With the Rockets' disappointing performance, no player should be deemed safe, and only a select few on the roster possess the talent that other teams would be interested in exploring for significant returns. Undoubtedly, Sengun is one of those players, and it's highly likely that Green falls into that category as well, especially considering the trade rumors involving Harden or the possibility of acquiring another established star.

While I'm sure some of you may disagree, none of the Rockets players have shown the potential to be a pretty safe bet for developing into a superstar-caliber player. None are considered off-limits for trading.

Didn’t they get the memo that Sengun has a terrible work ethic? Don’t they see that Alpi at 19-20yrs old has already maxed out his potential?? Have they lost their mind and totally bought into all the praise nonsense that a lot of elite NBA players are saying about him??

No need to be shopping for 2's as we have Green and KPjr.(who might end up as our starting 2)

Jabari will grow into a defensive beast, with way more offensive game than many of y'all seem to realize. He picked it up on O over the last 1/4. On the defensive side, once he has the physical maturation to finish off those plays...his instincts are there.

No need to pick up a center when the best player on the team is a center then

As much as seeing the statements about Sengun from our front office. Direct your complaints to them.

Sengun + Eason = good interior defense

When these two play together, the Rockets are an above average defensive team, no matter what turnstile plays at guard. The formula of (unathletic skilled big) + (long-wingspanned, agile, lane-disruptive, elite help-defense forward) is quite proven in the league. Pair Sengun with two plus defenders in the forward spots, and our defense will not get in the way of us competing.

Sengun takes (mostly) good position, he has active hands, gives a lot of effort, makes hustle plays, takes charges. No coincidence he was one of just 3 players in the whole league to have over 70 blocks and 70 steals last year - and he did so in his second season, in just 28 minutes.

Sengun is just 20 yo. His body will change as he grows, both in size and athleticism. There is a natural physical evolution with Euro bigs. Valanciunas/Zubac were scrawny, Sabonis couldn’t jump over a newspaper, Vucevic/ Nurkic/Jokic/ Poeltl were all bullied in the paint at that age. It is highly unlikely that Sengun stays physically who he is today. He will 100% gain 2-3 inches of vertical, he can 100% carry an extra 20 lbs of weight at his peak, he will 100% improve his stamina (and thus 4th quarter effort/concentration). In terms of athleticism (vertical jump, speed, agility) he is way ahead of where all the above were at the same age. Everything I have seen in my 40 years of watching Euro basketball tells me that Sengun at peak will surpass Sabonis/Valanciunas/Nurkic/Jokic defensively and potentially also Zubac/Poeltl.

    He just needs playing time.

I like defense just as much as the next guy. I was excited knowing we would be focusing more on defensive effort. What I wasn’t aware of is that it would come at the cost of offense. How many teams constructed this way win championships in the modern era? At the end of the day, the team that scores the most points still wins the games. I have to go back to the Pistons maybe?

    Yes, exactly.

They want to trade Kevin Porter Jr and I remind them that
KPj did the Rockets a solid favor by sitting out that last game.

They told me sooo !! KPj didn't lose any bonus money !!

But he lost a game check......if Sengun was asked to miss
a game as a healthy scratch, they would go ballistic.
    Having a hissy fit.

They b*tch and complain when Sengun only gets 4 minutes in the 4th qrt.
I can only imagine if the Rockets asked Sengun to sit the final game and
then traded Sengun two months later.....they would riot in the streets.

I’m a Rocket fan. He’s our best player. And I’m not cool with different treatment of players
