Today, I reformat my hard drive, and install windows 2000, and I try to connect to the internet using my dial up, but for some reason, the window can not recognize my modem, what do I need to do in order for my system to recognize my modem? Thanks for your help
well, the problem is that I don't know what company the modem is made of, and I don't have the driver for it, what should I do?
If you know of someone who has an internet connection, go to www.belarc.com and download the free Belarc Advisor. It's a great tool for going into your system and taking an inventory of what you have and displaying it in HTML format. Hope that helps.
Windows 2k without the service packs isnt very good at recognizing modems. You more than likely need the drivers but that may be hard to get without an internet connection. This may be a useless suggestion but you may consider pulling the modem card and seeing if it has any identifying markings on it. Then take a disc to somewhere you can hop on the net and download the driver.
