I was on board for a minute too but I've cooled off to the idea. Tate and Eason provide enough defense for us at the 3. Truly I just want Eason to work on them damn layups.

We need a point and a center. We have wing and forward well stocked.

Well if this is true that would explain it!
If you have insider info thanks for sharing!

Still think it's telling that a team that's familiar with him would say he's not coming back "under ANY circumstances"!

If you listen to the Portland reporters it is mutual on both sides, that’s one of the reason Dame is still reassured.

We are in desperate need of defense and players willing to lay wood on opposing teams. Brooks can do that.

This is the part I don't get. If you don't want him for his attitude and his playoff antics so be it. But he'd be a defensive anchor on this team and he made 35.6% catch and shoot 3s last year using nba.com stats. That is the definition of a 3&D player. Now he shouldn't be taking any other shots. But that's on Udoka as a coach to rein him in. That's why he gets paid the big bucks

We need as much Tari/Sengun lineups as possible. Also IDK why people want to get rid of KMJ. He's one of our best players and he's freakin' 22

Memphis didn’t use him as a scapegoat. Brooks talked a lot of trash but didn’t back it up. Even worse he was too p***y to speak to media after getting embarrassed.

Draymond Green put it best, “The dynasty starts after [Dillon], not with you.” And he knew that even the Grizzlies didn’t like playing with him.

What makes matters worse is that we would trade KJ Martin to make a roster spot for this clown. It doesn’t make sense!

Unless there's a trade coming in, would rather give those minutes to Tari, KJ and Cam. Gotta see what they can do under Udoka.

Oh and Brooks is a Bitc.... Culture B Damned!

The fans who want Brooks have the sensibilities of a 12 year old fan. Yelling defense like that’s all that matters. Defense with negative offense is pointless, and then you’re left with just a low character guy who’s production is useless or negative. No one needs that for $12m+.

W’s are not handed out for defense. They’re handed out for offense minus defense - both roughly equally important. Starting a defense only player doesn’t mean you can start an offense only player somewhere else, this is not a video game.

Even if he is not a fit in Memphis, if he’s worth $12m+ they can do a sign and trade and get value back like any sensible GM does. They just did not want anything to do with him - more than you’ve ever seen in your life. GM’s don’t normally want to lose players for nothing, especially all defense second team players.

Udoka wants a dog that can bite, not one who only barks. He wants team players. Winners. Mentally strong people. Unselfish people. Dillon is a selfish offensive player who plays the wrong way and his excellent ex head coach could not fix it, neither can Ime. Udoka is a Spurs guy, does Brooks strike you as someone the Spurs would sign? Stupid to say he’s an Udoka type player.

You think Udoka wants a player who ignored his coach’s instructions on the court and in the media? This the high character guy Udoka wants? Stop lying to yourself.

This is purely Stone or Patrick doing this (and Nook actually told me that last week). It would have to be the guys who don’t understand basketball. We’re about to be the team that pays Lance Stephenson. Congratulations.

Curious about all the talk of needing "veteran leadership." Isn't that what coaches are for? The implication is that players will listen to teammates more than their coaches.

I imagine that when veterans buy in, rookies are quicker to fall in line after seeing examples from their veteran teammates. So it’s still about coaching but vets catch on to the coaching faster, they’re more equipped to handle communication with coaching and applying the vocabulary the staff uses. It’s like using a dog to train a puppy, examples speed up learning.

I really don’t think it’s more complicated than that. The pups have to look like dogs to play like em. Time to emulate.

I can definitely see where that succession can help; nobody seems to want to go without it.
