This team is probably gonna still be pretty bad offensively next season, but if Udoka lays down the law and sticks to his merit based PT, this teams defense should take a massive jump. We have some extremely high end defensive talent, aside from Sengun and Green the rest of the young guys all have elite level defensive ceilings.

The team was always gonna suck offensively, but the lack of effort and focus on defense last season was infuriating. Sengun to a degree was punished for lazy defense, but all the other players pretty much had carte blanche to not try and/or play stupid(loved Silas and his selective accountability). Green,Porter,Smith...everybody played loser ball on the defensive side.

 

I think we have play in talent but 20 game jump is kind of crazy

I think The offense will be better. Im calling it. Ime flew into houston with silas slander saying he was using his players all wrong.

 

This is a fine idea if you are playing for the championship or at least the playoffs. But for a developing team, you need to give the guys you see as your future core the experience. Sure, they have to earn it by playing hard, but playing a veteran that you know it not in your future plans is dumb.

 

Rotation will more than likely have a lot of the same faces minus guys like Nix...

Sounds good to say this guy or that guy didn't earn their minutes last year, but it's not like there were a ton of options to replace them.

I think this is more encouraging for players who were on the fringe that they could break into the rotation.

 

Which is more likely. That Stephen Silas, a long time coach and son of a former coach, can't understand basic concepts like making people earn minutes... or was it more likely that the Rockets were tanking and traded away all veterans so that his best PG is not a PG and second best PG is an UDFA who is clearly not NBA worthy?

I am fine with Silas going out, but more because I feel he doesn't have control of the locker room and lack the gravitas to keep the youngsters organized. But I don't think he's an idiot.

 

I think the "different roles" comment is clearly about KPJ starting at PG. That experiment is over.

 

I'll believe it when I see it. I still remember Green just jacking up the worst shots every game and Silas keeping real quiet.

Nobody wants to be a chucker. Young players can't make great shots every night.
